Does somebody know what happens since there's still Lucid part of this PPA

Lucid is a LTS release so maybe that's why they keep that one and only
have one other release after that to support on their PPA? They now have KDE 4.7.0 for Natty and it looks like they remove KDE 4.6.x for Maverick about the same time. /Philip On Sun, Jul 31, 2011 at 10:43 AM, Photonoxx <[hidden email]> wrote: > Does somebody know what happens since there's still Lucid part of this PPA > ? > > > Le Sat, 30 Jul 2011 20:42:50 +0200, Philip Johnsson > <[hidden email]> a écrit: > >> Looks like there is a BIG problem to port Digikam 2.0 final to >> (K)ubuntu 10.10 (maverick) as so far as I can see the Kubuntu team >> have removed support for KDE 4.6.x on maverick on their PPA so there >> is no KDE 4.6.x there anymore to build against. Yes but where ?
It was moved or removed ? Another thing, I actually look for a new distro after 4 years with Ubuntu, so if you have any suggest, with in mind I don't have any feeling for KDE except for Digikam and I prefer Gnome. I look for something like a rolling but more or less Up to date (not like LMDE and its Digikam 1.2 version), more or less User ready... I actually try some like OpenSuse (with Tumbleweed) and start to try Sabayon too. That was one of my main reasons to go for Fedora: I never had to build
anything, as Digikam new versions (same for Scribus) appear very quickly in the repositories. No matter, I'm french too ;>), thanks for the link.
If I understand, with Fedora, you use testing package... Are they fixed to stable release of software but tested for new milestone of Fedora, or can you get some alpha beta release in this repository ? For this moment, I'm testing OpenSuse which seems interesting with various kind of repositories and some which are up to date, but some other things are not perfects, so my mind's still opened t for alternate choice... Digikam 2.1 packages for Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty) are now available on my
Launchpad PPA. If you want to give them a try then follow the same instructions as in this blog post on how to add the PPA, even though it refer to an older version of Digikam. http://www.mohamedmalik.com/?p=1019 If you use KDE 4.7.x from the Kubuntu teams PPA with (K)Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty) then follow the instructions in this blog post: http://scribblesandsnaps.wordpress.com/2011/03/09/install-the-latest-beta-of-digikam-on-ubuntu-10-10/ Happy Digikaming! First. Are you using KDE 4.7.x as you try to install the packages
built for it which doesn't come with the official Ubuntu 11.04 but have to be added from the Kubuntu teams PPA? If not you shouldn't be using my kubuntu-backports PPA. Second. Try to make a reload/update of your source indexes and try to installed/upgrade it again. It looks to me it is about conflicting components, probably only to solve by deinstalling all related packages, this might implicate that some other apps will be removed as well in the process. After that you might start from scratch. You might have a better overview about what is going on if you use synaptic package manager. Maybe you could start with fixing broken packages. It can also be caused by having ¨locked¨ versions on your system.
And after all, you should better not install a new digikam 2.1.0 at the moment, because the new versions around have a problem. Better wait till that is fixed Best regards, Rinus

In that case you need to uninstall all the library packages that comes
with Digikam and reinstall them with packages only from my "extra" PPA. If you have installed them from my "kubuntu-backports" PPA they will be considered newer by your system and keep them. Just uninstalling the packages digikam2 and kipi-plugins2 might not also uninstall the library packages. Check versions of packages libkdcraw-20, libkexiv2-10, libkface-1, libkgeomap1 and libkvkontakte1 so their package version names don't have "kde47" in it. If they do they are built against KDE 4.7 and you should uninstall them. /Philip On Mon, Sep 12, 2011 at 10:19 AM, Bill Yiannakos <[hidden email]> wrote: > I am using Ubuntu 11.04 (not KDE, just gnome) > I did have your kubuntu-backports PPA enabled (I don't know why, maybe from > past updates of digikam).
