I updated digiKam 2.0 beta 5 to beta 6 on Kubuntu 11.04 without a hitch. Nice work, Philip!

I would highly appreciate a Digikam 2.0 ppa for 10.10.
And thank you very much for all your work, which is very helpful. Phillip, I have no plans to switch to 11.04 anytime soon. I have just uploaded packages for Ubuntu 10.10 on my Launchpad site
(wait 1-2 hours after this post to let them build). If you want to install it then follow these instruction and they are ONLY for (*)ubuntu 10.10 (maverick) and NOT 11.04 (natty). http://scribblesandsnaps.wordpress.com/2011/03/09/install-the-latest-beta-of-digikam-on-ubuntu-10-10/ If you use (*)ubuntu 11.04 (natty) then follow the instructions on this page instead: http://www.mohamedmalik.com/?p=1019 Happy digikaming! Packages of Digikam 2.0 final release and of course kipi-plugins 2.0
are now available on my Launchpad PPA for Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty). As usual you can follow the instructions in this blog to add the PPA. http://www.mohamedmalik.com/?p=1019 Happy digikaming! Philip,
Sorry to worry, but would this work for 10.04 (Lucid) as well? I tried but was not successful. That won't work as it need to be rebuilt for Lucid in that case. First of all Digikam 2.0 depends on the KDE 4.6.x framework and I'm not sure if there is any release of that or PPA with it for Lucid. Then there are a couple of other packages that should be updated too as they are pretty old in Lucid so you get better feature support in Digikam 2.0. /Philip On Jul 29, 2011 8:04 AM, "Willem Ferguson" <[hidden email]> wrote:

Looks like a network problem when you try to fetch updated source
lists. Check your network and try again with the update and install. /Philip On Fri, Jul 29, 2011 at 7:31 PM, David Vincent-Jones <[hidden email]> wrote: > Some problem here ... do I also need the kubuntu stuff? > > david@david-ThinkPad:~$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:philip5/extra && > sudo apt-get update[sudo] password for david: > Error reading https://launchpad.net/api/1.0/~philip5/+archive/extra: > <urlopen error [Errno -2] Name or service not known> > Err http://security.ubuntu.com natty-security InRelease > > Err http://ppa.launchpad.net natty InRelease > > Err http://security.ubuntu.com natty-security Release.gpg > Could not resolve 'security.ubuntu.com' > Err http://ppa.launchpad.net natty Release.gpg > Could not resolve 'ppa.launchpad.net' > Err http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com natty InRelease > > Err http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com natty-updates InRelease > > Err http://extras.ubuntu.com natty InRelease > > Err http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com natty Release.gpg > Could not resolve 'ca.archive.ubuntu.com' > Err http://extras.ubuntu.com natty Release.gpg > Could not resolve 'extras.ubuntu.com' > Err http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com natty-updates Release.gpg > Could not resolve 'ca.archive.ubuntu.com' > Reading package lists... If you are like me and like to use the latest version of KDE with
(K)ubuntu 11.04 (Natty) and use the Kubuntu teams kubuntu-backports PPA to install KDE 4.7.x then you also must use my "kubuntu-backports" PPA to get Digikam 2.0 to work. In my "kubuntu-backports" PPA Digikam 2.0 is built against KDE 4.7.x which also will sort out some conflicting content files with digikam libs on my "extra" PPA and the KDE 4.7-packages. If you use the Kubuntu teams kubuntu-backports PPA to install and use KDE 4.7 with Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty), and ONLY in that case, then follow the same instructions as in this blog even though it refers to Ubuntu 10.10 and Digikam 2.0 beta: http://scribblesandsnaps.wordpress.com/2011/03/09/install-the-latest-beta-of-digikam-on-ubuntu-10-10/ Note: The packages for KDE 4.7 will be available as soon as they are built on Launchad at my "kubuntu-backports" PPA. Most likely about 2 hours from this post on the mailing-list. Happy digikaming! Looks like there is a BIG problem to port Digikam 2.0 final to
(K)ubuntu 10.10 (maverick) as so far as I can see the Kubuntu team have removed support for KDE 4.6.x on maverick on their PPA so there is no KDE 4.6.x there anymore to build against. Without it Digikam 2.0 can't be built for Maverick. :( /Philip On Sat, Jul 30, 2011 at 12:42 AM, Photonoxx <[hidden email]> wrote: > + 1 too since for the moment I'm still under 10.10 and looking may be for > a new distrib (interested in OpenSuse but I'm not sure for now) > > Le Sat, 30 Jul 2011 00:27:46 +0200, Ross McDonald <[hidden email]> a > écrit: > >> I'll +1 that request for 10.10 Maverick. >> Thanks for the updates >> Ross >> >> On 29/07/11 23:04, Philip Johnsson wrote: >>> If there are any requests for it then I might upload it for 10.10 >>> (maverick) tomorrow. >>> >>> /Philip >>> >>> >>> >>> On Fri, Jul 29, 2011 at 11:41 PM, bob<[hidden email]> wrote: >>>> Hello Philip >>>> >>>> Any chance the will updated for 10.10 with the final release? >>>> >>>> As always >>>> >>>> Thanks for your hard work! >>>> >>>> >>>> >>>> On Fri, 2011-07-29 at 00:42 +0200, Philip Johnsson wrote: >>>>> Packages of Digikam 2.0 final release and of course kipi-plugins 2.0 >>>>> are now available on my Launchpad PPA for Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty). >>>>> >>>>> As usual you can follow the instructions in this blog to add the PPA. >>>>> >>>>> http://www.mohamedmalik.com/?p=1019 >>>>> >>>>> Happy digikaming! >>>>> >>>>> Philip >>>>> _______________________________________________ >>>>> Digikam-users mailing list >>>>> [hidden email] >>>>> https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users >>>> >>>> _______________________________________________ >>>> Digikam-users mailing list >>>> [hidden email] >>>> https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users >>>> >>> _______________________________________________ >>> Digikam-users mailing list >>> [hidden email] >>> https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users >> >> _______________________________________________ >> Digikam-users mailing list >> [hidden email] >> https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users > > > -- > -- > Nicolas Boulesteix > Photographe chasseur de lueurs > http://www.photonoxx.fr > _______________________________________________ > Digikam-users mailing list > [hidden email] > https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users > Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |
