I'm using DigiKam 2.4 (which I think is from your PPA) in Kubuntu 11.10 with KDE 4.7.90 without problems. So I think 2.5 should work OK - will try an update later. _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |
Mark, let my know if it does work with KDE 4.8 without issues. When KDE 4.8 is final I think I'll start using it myself and make special builds for it in my kubuntu-backport PPA for Ubuntu 11.10. /Philip On Jan 8, 2012 12:26 PM, "Mark Fraser" <[hidden email]> wrote:

digiKam 2.5.0 seems to be running fine in KDE 4.7.97 (4.8 RC2).

As Digikam 2.6.0 beta1 is just out as source code tarball I was
wondering if you guys want betas on my PPA or should I wait for finals to upload? I will not (I think) maintain stable and betas in some separate packages solutions. What do you guys think? Hi all,
I don't yet posted the release announce. But take a care, this 2.6.0-beta1 is not ready to use in production. Only use it for test purpose. There are few parts probably broken in this release. I will explain it in announcement. If I may suggest Philip after Gilles message it will be reasonable to wait for final releases, specially in this case, instead of betas

I also vote on stable releases only! I wouldn't like to see unpleasant surprises during my work, as I use digikam (and darktable) for very important -to me- work.....

Just for the record. I will wait until Digikam 2.6.0 is final before I
upload any updates to my PPA. Thanks for the feedback guys. /Philip _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |
Just some information about my PPA and support for Ubuntu 12.04 (precise).
I will start packaging and support 12.04 as soon as I get my gear here back together. Unfortunately my workstation broke down some 2 weeks ago and my motherboard is on warranty service but they seem to have trouble deciding if it will count as a factory fault or not so it takes longer time to fix than I expected. As soon I get it back and I can start using it again I'll upgrade to 12.04 myself and also start supporting 12.04 on my PPA. Will also update exiv2 and libgphoto2 to latest upstream that's not in 12.04 for more camera support in Digikam. Meanwhile I'm stuck on an older retro workstation that takes ages to compile stuff on so my PPA work have come to an halt. Hope to be more active again soon. There you go for who ever was wondering. Happy digikaming! /Philip _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

You can build Ubuntu packages on the openSUSE buildservice, i.e. no need for a local installation and powerful hardware. Just register for free and set-up your project. http://en.opensuse.org/Portal:Build_Service Sven _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

Hi Gilles,
Are you aware of this page http://packages.qa.debian.org/d/digikam.html It shows that digiKam 2.6.0-beta3 is in Debian unstable but it cannot progress to testing due to some bugs. I think the MIPS compilation bug at least needs to be fixed. It would be really nice to get that into 2.6.0 so the next Debian release can get something more recent than 1.9.0. Andrew,
MIPS fixes have been applied to current implementation from git/master. Can you check if it compile fine with this implementation ? Else, please report error here... Digikam 2.7.0 is now available for Ubuntu 12.04 (precise) in my "extra" PPA.

I am in awe of your development achievements for Digikam.
But i have Ubuntu 10.04 and Digikam 1.2.0 and i cant find a more updated Digikam package for Lucid Lynx on your PPA. I don't think it's possible to build newer versions of Digikam on
stock Ubuntu 10.04 as it comes with an too old version of KDE. Digikam is much dependent on KDE parts so you need to update your KDE to be able to build it. As far as I know there is no recent version of KDE for Ubuntu Lucid maintained on any PPA either. /Philip On Mon, Jul 9, 2012 at 3:27 PM, John Bestevaar <[hidden email]> wrote: > I am in awe of your development achievements for Digikam. > But i have Ubuntu 10.04 and Digikam 1.2.0 and i cant find a more updated > Digikam package for Lucid Lynx on your PPA. > Cheers JohnB > > > On 09/07/12 21:15, Philip Johnsson wrote: >> >> Digikam 2.7.0 is now available for Ubuntu 12.04 (precise) in my "extra" >> PPA. >> >> Find out more about the PPA at: https://launchpad.net/~philip5 >> >> Happy digikaming! :) >> >> /Philip >> _______________________________________________ >> Digikam-users mailing list >> [hidden email] >> https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users >> >> > > > _______________________________________________ > Digikam-users mailing list > [hidden email] > https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |
Dear Digikam developers, I have just made the inevitable upgrade from Ubuntu 10.04 to 12.04. The new facilities of Digikam 2.5 are enormous (having used Digikam 1.9 previously). Just a short message to thank the developers for their time and labour put into this top-quality software. I find it remarkable that the Digikam developers go out of their way to make this program adaptable to as many operating environments as possible and making possible the interaction with non-KDE software such as Darktable. This inter-operability is clearly the way to the future, especially in the open source world. I am hoping that, some time, Dk and Dt will understand more of each others' utilisation of .XMP files..... Thank you again for an industrial-grade open source product. Phillip, your contribution is also significant. I was waiting for mint13kde(LTS), but as it is not available yet, installed kubuntu 12.04 LTS before one week. By default there is dk 2.5.0 but i am thinking of upgrading to 2.7.0 by adding Philip's PPI. The trouble with kubuntu is- by default hibernation is disabled. If 'sudo pm-hibernate' (in konsole) hibernates the system, enable it by referring the forum post https://help.ubuntu.com/12.04/ubuntu-help/power-hibernate.html Then I added plasma widgets plasma-widget-quickaccess plasma-widget-lancelot Now i am very satisfied with it and may not install mint13kde. -Jagdeesh
