libkgeomap1 and libkvkontakte1 so their package version names don't
have "kde47" in it. If they do they are built against KDE 4.7 and you

Re: MySQL upgrade failed

Sven Flossmann-2
In reply to this post by Ignatius Reilly
Hi,

I had the same problems as well. Today evening I took the time to perform the upgrade manually. For those who have the problems not solved, yet, here is what I did:

- Use an Editor and a Mysql Client of your choice (e.g. Kate and MySQL Query Browser).
- Execute the following in the Query Browser:
                    DELIMITER //;
                    CREATE PROCEDURE create_index_if_not_exists(table_name_vc varchar(50), index_name_vc varchar(50), field_list_vc varchar(1024))
                    SQL SECURITY INVOKER
                    BEGIN

                    set @Index_cnt = (
                        SELECT COUNT(1) cnt
                        FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.STATISTICS
                        WHERE CONVERT(DATABASE() USING latin1) = CONVERT(TABLE_SCHEMA USING latin1)
                        AND CONVERT(table_name USING latin1) = CONVERT(table_name_vc USING latin1)
                        AND CONVERT(index_name USING latin1) = CONVERT(index_name_vc USING latin1)
                    );

                    IF IFNULL(@Index_cnt, 0) = 0 THEN
                        set @index_sql = CONCAT(
                            CONVERT( 'ALTER TABLE ' USING latin1),
                            CONVERT( table_name_vc USING latin1),
                            CONVERT( ' ADD INDEX ' USING latin1),
                            CONVERT( index_name_vc USING latin1),
                            CONVERT( '(' USING latin1),
                            CONVERT( field_list_vc USING latin1),
                            CONVERT( ');' USING latin1)
                        );
                        PREPARE stmt FROM @index_sql;
                        EXECUTE stmt;
                        DEALLOCATE PREPARE stmt;
                    END IF;
                    END //
                    DELIMITER;

- Open core/data/database/dbconfig.xml.cmake in an editor
- Scroll to line 1462: "<!-- Migration from DB Version 5 (0.10 - 1.4) to Version 6 (1.5-) -->"
"
- For each <statement> tag within the <dbaction> tag: Copy the SQL statement to e.g. Mysql Query Browser and execute the statement.
- If you get an error (usually happens if triggers are created), enclose the SQL statement in between:
DELIMITER //;
<SQL-Statement>
DELIMITER;
And remove tha last ";" from the <SQL-Statement>.

- Afterwards one has to ensure that the Settings table is correct. Execute the following:
UPDATE Settings SET value=2 WHERE keyword = 'DBThumbnailsVersion';
UPDATE Settings SET value=6 WHERE keyword = 'DBVersion';

- Tell digikam to use  MySQL again, and enjoy.

No warranty whether this is correct and works for everyone.

Please backup your database before making any changes.

Good luck.

Sven

Hi,

I just upgraded a DK 1.9 installation with MySQL on Natty

Got the following error at DK startup:
<
Failed to update the database schema from version 5 to version 6. Please
read the error messages printed on the console and report this error as
a bug at bugs.kde.org.
>

Any idea where I can find the MySQL schema upgrade script?

Thx

Re: Any interests in Digikam 2.0 packages and digikam PPA?

Philip Johnsson
In reply to this post by davidvj
Question to you guys who use digikam2 on my PPA. As Ubuntu 11.10
(oneiric) will come with Digikam 2.1.1 do you prefer to get new
updates rolling as usually with my PPA having my digikam packges also
named digikam or do you like to have my packages named digikam2 so it
can be a choice to use them if you use my PPA?

With the next release of Digikam I will also rename some packages to
match up with the official package naming to avoid future conflicts.
Maybe I have to make rebuilds to that before anyway depending on the
Ubuntu 11.10 release plan and people wanting to upgrade.

Any thoughts?

I dont know if my answer could be of some interest, it should be wrong technically speaking....I prefer to remain linked to your PPA with or without changes; it could be convenient for future releases of Digikam which could not be quickly added to the release of Ubuntu next to Oneiric.
ciao and thanks

Yes but either you have just the digikam package and with my PPA it
will be updated with rolling releases with the latest version from
upstream digikam releases or you still have the digikam2 packages as
you have now and can choose to use my PPA and either have the official
build OR update to the latest upstream release.

My build will also differ from the official build as my build will use
more updated dependent packages and increased functionality.

As I'm already using Ubtuntu 11.10, I removed Digikam2 and installed Digikam from oficiall repos. I believe that is alway better user official packages.

I think that Digikam2 was a good transition name, but keep the same names is always better. If Ubuntu delays the next versions of digikam, I prefer make updates from your ppa using the correct name.

Sorry for my reply which could demonstrate again my little experience. I have installed Digikam2 (ver 2.1.1) (not digikam 1.9.0 ) right now and having your PPA in the repositories it will be updated with the best and latest release (from you) even if I will update to Oneiric on this version of Ubuntu. If, and will be NOT my case, I will install a fresh version of 11.10 KDE, it will mot. But in that case I will remember to add your PPA to my repositories? Is that correct ?

Re: Any interests in Digikam 2.0 packages and digikam PPA?

Philip Johnsson
It depends on how I do it when I start supporting 11.10 on my PPA.
Right now I have no support for 11.10 and if you install 11.10 then
11.10 will have official digikam 2.1.1 from Ubuntu (the kubuntu team)
if you install the digikam package. 11.10 will not know of any
digikam2 package at all on 11.10 right now even with or without my
PPA. digikam2 isn't an official digikam label of an official digikam
package.

Re: Any interests in Digikam 2.0 packages and digikam PPA?

Philip Johnsson
Ok, I will go over to the official ubuntu digikam 2.x package naming
with the next update that is digikam 2.2 that got released upstream
today. As I need to work some more with the packages this time to make
the transition from the old way it might be until tomorrow or so
you'll see the updates on my PPA. Hopefully you won't even notice the
changes when you update as I hope you don't have to do anything
special more than update. :)

I'll also do some updates of exiv2 and such at the same time.

Which versions of Kubuntu and KDE will this be for - 11.04 and 11.10 with KDE 4.7.1?

Philip Johnsson
Only for 11.04 (natty) for a start until 11.10 is in final release but
for both KDE 4.6.2 and KDE 4.7.1 splittered into my "extra" and
"kubuntu-backports" PPA depending on what you use. That mean same as
before.

Re: Any interests in Digikam 2.0 packages and digikam PPA?

Philip Johnsson
In about 1-2 hours from I'm writing this digikam 2.2.0 will be able on
my PPA for Ubuntu 11.04 (natty). With this release I have adapted my
packages to the official digikam 2.1.1 package naming that is
introduced with Ubuntu 11.10 (oneiric). This mean that you have to
install the digikam and kipi-plugins package instead for the
transitional digikam2 and kipi-plugins2 that I used before on my PPA.

With the renaming of the packages I had to resolve conflicts between
the old and the new packages but hopefully your package manager will
uninstall the old digikam2 and kipi-plugins2 packages for you when you
try to install the new digikam package. It would be great to get
feedback on how this update goes. It should work flawlessly.

Other things that is different with my packages then the Ubuntu 11.10
packages is that on my PPA Digikam is built against and use OpenCV
2.3.1 instead of OpenCV 2.1, Exiv2 0.22 instead of 0.22.1 and my build
also use libgphoto2 2.4.11.

If you use Ubuntu 11.04 with standard KDE 4.6.2 then you only need my
"extra" PPA. If you use (K)ubuntu 11.04 with KDE 4.7.1 from the
Kubuntu teams PPA then you must use both my "extra" PPA and my
"kubuntu-backports" PPA.

Happy digikaming!

Philip

Hi Philip,

doesn't start after upgrading:

eric@eric-desktop:~$ digikam
QSqlDatabasePrivate::removeDatabase: connection 'ConnectionTest' is
still in use, all queries will cease to work.
digikam: symbol lookup error: digikam: undefined symbol:
_ZN4KIPI21ImageCollectionSharedD2Ev
eric@eric-desktop:~$

Ubuntu 11.04
SQLite DB

Cheers
Eric

Re: Any interests in Digikam 2.0 packages and digikam PPA?

RaveNBlack
Eric,

not that it is going to solve your problem, but I'm getting exactly the
same error and I'm on OpenSuSE 11.4, not Ubuntu. I tried to run DK2.2 on
KDE 4.7.1 and 4.7.2. From what I read I gather there is some
compatibility issue related to KDE libs

Regards,
Larry
