I recently imported over 8000 pictures into DigiKam, dating from 2002
to present. However, they are all dated 21 February 2007, which is the date that I imported them to DigiKam and not the date that they were photographed. I see under "properties" that the correct date (the date that the image was photographed) is listed. How can I have DigiKam sort by creation date, not modified date? Thanks in advance. Hi,
you can select all your photos, then select "Change date and time" (or whatever it is called, can't check right now) and select "Set date to EXIF date". In the case of 8000 pictures, get a cup of coffee and it should be done. The wife insists on photographing with her Nokia 6280 and we have hundreds of photos from friends with different models of cameras. Note that the problem occurs with all the photos, irregardless of camera used. And opening the photos with other tools such as F-Spot does not present a problem: in F-Spot the photos are sorted properly. So I don't think that the problem is with the photos themselves :) Dotan Cohen http://what-is-what.com/what_is/drm.html http://lyricslist.com/lyrics/biography/123/collective_soul.html _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

It's certainly not under "tools" or any other menu item in 0.9.1, and it's not in the right-click menu either. I don't see it in the Editor either, not that it would help there as I'd have to do 8000 pictures individually. Hi,
it is in "Image->Adjust time and date". And don't worry, it won't take the whole night (referring to your other mail). This option come from a kipi-plugins, not digiKam itself.

However, as DigiKam does see the correct date (as do other apps such as F-Spot that use exiv2) I doubt that is the problem. I'll report back with success or failure. Thanks! F-Spot is not digiKam in the order to handle Exif date.
Exiv2 give a low level access to informations from metadata without sort it digiKam use an interface to do it named libkexiv2. F-spot do not use this interface. If you take a look into my code from libkexiv2, you can find this method /** Return the time stamp of image. Exif information are check in first, IPTC in second if image don't have Exif information. If no time stamp is found, a null date is returned. */ QDateTime getImageDateTime() const; Gilles 2007/3/15, Dotan Cohen <[hidden email]>: On 15/03/07, Gilles Caulier <[hidden email]> wrote: _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

You can quite easily install everything to a separate place, see for example http://www.digikam.org/?q=download/svn (and as you would do this as a normal user, and not as root, there is no danger of breaking anything; fortunately this is linux ;-) Arnd _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

Failure. Although I did select all the photo and performed "Set file
date to EXIF/IPTC creation date" they are all still February 2007. In the IPTC and EXIF data I do see the correct date, however. Why is this? DigiKam sat there working for a good 15 minutes before it finished, so I know that it was doing something. Reseting the program did not help.
