Hi Leo,
Are you using Digikam under gnome environment? I'm experiencing the same issue with all KDE applications running under my gnome environment (Ubuntu 11.04 running Unity). All tips that I found on internet use kcontrol to solve this issue, but I can't find this software in any current repository. So, I'm still looking for a way to change the KDE settings under gnome and solve this issue. Gilles, I'm using Digikam 2.0.0 from Philips ppa.
$ digikam -v Qt: 4.7.2 KDE Development Platform: 4.6.2 (4.6.2) digiKam: 2.0.0 And I'm still with this issue. Any tip? The kcontrol applet no longer exists in KDE4, it has been replaced by systemsettings (yes, it's really called that, with no K in it). Install systemsettings and you should have what you need. -- Chris Green _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

I *am* using UBUNTU 11.04 Ie. Gnome, but I was under the impression that I am running the latest version of DigiKam....
Let me check :) It says: "Version 2.0.0
Using KDE Development Platform 4.6.2 (4.6.2)" Isnt that the most recent version ? Thanks for the tip, Chris.
I found systemsettings, but when i try to change theme colors, I can't see any background color as dark as I'm having in Digikam and Amarok. All background colors are white or light blue, including tooltip background color. Do you know witch parameter we should change or witch specific color is causing this confusion? Thanks for pointing me to systemsettings, which apparently has been installed when DigiKam was installed.
In Application Appearance/Colors, tab Colors one can choose instead of 'Common Colors' 'Tooltip'.
Changing the background didnt help, but changing the foreground color to white made the tooltips visible. There must be something wrong there, but it solved the problem for now.
Kind regards, Leo Noordhuizen

Same issue here.
Running 11.04 digiKam Version 2.0.0. Using KDE Development Platform 4.6.2 (4.6.2)
I tried Settings>Themes>Configuration>Colors tab>Tooltips I am assuming you meant "normal text" when you said "foreground". My tooltips (when hovering over a thumbnail) have a black background and black text. Thanks. O.

Ozzy,
You are right. I meant 'normal text'. Leo

I was going to ask if it is related to this bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/kubuntu-ppa/+bug/820118, but as you're using 4.6.2 it probably won't be.

Doesn't work for me too.
Every change worked in Amarok but in Digikam tooltips are still wrong with black background and almost black gray text. Cheers Erick Moreno

Interesting.
Although my tooltips are readable now, I replaced the tooltip section with what you suggest, BUT everything became black again. (I assume that I can comment a line by preceding it with a '#')
So I replaced it with my 4 lines again and it is good again. Something very odd is going on here, but I am glad *I* can read the tooltips. The relevant part of kdeglobals is:
[Colors:Tooltip] BackgroundAlternate=255,251,170 BackgroundNormal=255,255,255 ForegroundNormal=255,255,255 ForegroundPositive=0,0,0

Is this still an issue for anybody else?
Running Linux Mint 12, Digikam 2.5.0. I tried again: Settings>Themes>Configuration>Colors tab>Tooltips then played around with "normal text" and "normal background" . It did not work :-( The setting of these two properties have nothing to the with the way the tooltips are actually shown. I don't really want to mess around with the gust of the configuration files unless it is really a bug and a workaround like this is required. Thanks. Oz.
