Would it be possible to have a bigger button to add/remove pictures to/from a selection? I'm currently in the process of tagging a big number of pictures, and I often click not right upon the button, thus loosing each time the selection I'm going to affect a new tag; this is quite time-consuming... and rather ennoying.-- _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |
Hi,
you can select an image, not just by clicking the button in the top left, but clicking anywhere in the photo frame, except on the photo itself and the stars area JP

Thank you for you answer, JP, but this doesn't solve my issue: I don't want to select only one picture, but to make a whole selection of pictures that will get the same tag; unless I'm mistaken, the only solution is to click on the '+' button. Marie-NoëlleI did try the Ctrl-click in the past, but more often than no it duplicated the pictures already selected, instead of adding the last one to the selection, and the result was a whole mess... 2013/11/24 Jean-Pierre Verrue <[hidden email]>

Marie Noelle : Use tags filters from the right-sidebar, with right tags to display. Now just click on album top header to select all items (or use CTRL+A). You can also make Search album set with your tags with Advanced Search tool. When you display this virtual album, it will be automatically updated.

Marie Noelle wants to select pictures to /add/ a tag, so the tag filter can't work yet... But, Ctrl-click works for me to select one additional image, Shft-click to select all between last and current (and those have worked for as long as I can remember). @ M.N.: I can't remember ever seeing images getting copied/duplicated due to a Ctrl-click. Could you have some personal hot-key set up to copy on Ctrl-click (sounds like you get the same action as Ctrl-C) Remco _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

Hi Gilles, Might be that I didn't explain clearly enough.I don't want to assign the same tag(s) to all the pictures of an album. I'm currently browsing the album (more than 1500 pictures taken during a trip) and want to select from the thumbnails displayed on the screen (about 3 rows of 7 or 8 pictures) those I'll assign the same tag, for example 'natural landscapes', then some others with 'villages' and such; once all the displayed thumbnails are tagged, I'll go further and display another "page" of thumbnails and do the same until I reach the end of the album. So my need is to establish a selection containing several pictures belonging to the same album, but not necessarily adjacent. Isn't the '+/-' button intended to do just that? Unfortunately, as I tend to work a bit quickly and with not much accuracy, I often click outside the sensitive area, and loose the previous selection... And yes, I use the right tags bar; the left one being collapsed in order to have more room to display the thumbnails. Marie-Noëlle 2013/11/24 Gilles Caulier <[hidden email]>

I'm not sure I understand your meaning here... Are you speaking about making a selection of thumbnails from an album inside Digikam? I didn't set up any additional hot-key in Digikam itself. Do you think something could be defined at a higher level (system?) and could sometimes come in the way? What do you mean by 'a window'? Do you launch another instance of Digikam? I don't understand how you do. Marie-Noëlle

Yes, I did end up with several copies; and I also have move pictures from one album to another without even being aware of it! I really don't understand what happened, and sometimes I didn't see immediately, so I've spent time looking for pictures that have been misplaced...2013/11/24 jdd <[hidden email]> Le 24/11/2013 19:17, Marie-Noëlle Augendre a écrit : -- _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

OK, I see. You mean dragging the mouse in order to select everything that is in the rectangle. Unfortunately, that doesn't work for me as I've not many adjacent pictures that will have the same tag: for one, the landscape will be proeminent, next one it'll be the village, another the people... There are not so many 'doublons' left as I've already made a first selection and only kept the best one or two pictures of a serie.2013/11/24 jdd <[hidden email]> Le 24/11/2013 19:19, Marie-Noëlle Augendre a écrit : -- _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

CTRL should work.
What happens when you do a single click on a thumbnail (I say Thumbnail, not part with filename, info...) ? Does digikam select the picture or does it open preview ? If a single click opens preview, so you may have to CTRL and click in the case but not on the thumbnail. CTRL is a system standard selection mode (for exemple in a file selector it's the same thing). That's not bad! I just gave it a try, and it works pretty well... except for one picture that get displayed in full screen instead of being selected??? I'm beginning to wonder if typing too quickly doesn't produce unexpected result sometimes: I'm pretty fast with a keyboard.2013/11/24 Anders Lund <[hidden email]>

You might have point here: a single click do open the preview. And it's perfectly possible that, when working quickly, I sometimes click on the thumbnail instead of somewhere else in the case. And that certainly explain why I don't have always the same result, as I don't realize where I have clicked precisely. Marie-Noëlle2013/11/24 Photonoxx <[hidden email]> CTRL should work. -- _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

Well, the 'sometimes' would surprise me. There are some standards about how to define system-wide hot-keys, and afaik, those don't use Ctrl- combinations... The 'sometimes' would make me look for a hot-key combination with the key next to the Ctrl key ("Windows" or "Menu" key on my keyboard). And I do agree that the hot spots for the +/- button are rather small. Though I wouldn't want the symbols to be bigger...
