Re: New icon view

Thanks. Done some quick browsing on nested albums with 20,000 total. No
scientific tests but IMO icon view is much master than previously. And if
there is more room for optimizations... Wow :)

Another thing - this is not exactly regression - even some kind of progress.

1) select one image in middle of screen
2) close (collapse) panel -> image will "move" somewhere with reorganization
of list, in some cases it will be off the screen
3) open panel -> image will return to its old place; and this is progress -
with old list viewport would move downward; after several close-open cycles
album would be scrolled to the end

Proper solution would be such reorganization of items that:
a) if item is selected it stays in the same row; perfectly it should be done
in such way that if it was eg. second from left in second row after reflowing
of items it should be still second from left in second row; if such precise
positioning isn't possible or very hard to achieve at least make sure that
this item is fully visible in current viewport
b) if no one item is selected previously first image is first in the first row
is still first image in first row, even if not fully visible

Another problem:

Click on thumbnail in album view to view it enlarged, then select a different
image type filter (e.g. from All to JPEG): Enlarged image vanishes, navigation
arrows in bottom right corner are greyed out, actions in toolbar are also
greyed out. You cannot go back to album view, need to close digikam
application.

Marcel, Andi,

Another problem with pop-up menu over icon. Here clic on thumbnail
open editor, not preview.

If you right clic outside thumb you see the reduced version of pop-up menu.
If you right clic inside thumb, editor is open and menu appears behind
editor canvas ! This menu is the full version...

Question : why menu are different inside and outside thumb ?

Andi,

Another problem relevant of pop-up menu: here, it slow to appear
(around 1 second). I think it relevant of jpeglossless kipi-plugins
action to plugin on menu. On the console you can see that plugins
action to plug are parsed : it take a while. This must be cached in
memory...

What do you think about ? Can you see the problem on your computer ?

Re: New icon view

Bugzilla from andi.clemens@gmx.net
In reply to this post by Gilles Caulier-4
Hmm I don't understand this problem.
Where are you clicking?
You open the image in the editor and then click on the thumbbar on the left?
Or you click on the thumbs in AlbumView and the problem appears?
Either way I can not reproduce this, I have a normal context menu all the
time.
What I did now (maybe you mean something different):

1. Set AlbumUI to open images in editor
2. Open Image in editor
3. Rightclick on image, context menu appears normally
4. rightclick on thumbbar, everything is ok, too.
5. go back to AlbumUI, click on thumbnail image in iconview, normal context
menu
6. click in the text area beneath the thumbnail (but still inside the
albumitem), normal context menu
7. click into empty space, only the (disabled) paste action is visible
8. click on thumbnail image in iconview, normal context menu
9. click in the text area beneath the thumbnail (but still inside the
albumitem), normal context menu

Another problem:

1. Select one image (by clicking in the text area beneath the thumbnail).
2. RIGHTCLICK onto another image in the albumUI, the first selected image is
not disabled and both images are selected now.

Or is this a feature?

Icon item is not only thumbnail... Clicking on image or on the rest of
item do not give the same menu. Also, i'm talking about right click
not left click. right click must only show pop-up menu, not open
editor or preview.

Sure I'm right-clicking all the time.. I was tired to write "rightclick" over
and over again :)
I clicked everywhere, I can not reproduce the error you describe.

Re: New icon view

Bugzilla from andi.clemens@gmx.net
Ok, right clicking on one item and then clicking on another gives my different
menus, too. But this is because the items are now automatically selected, as
described in another post.
Somehow we are not able to detect the correct amount of selected items at the
moment, so the context menu goes crazy.

Marcel,
you changed something about the signals yesterday, right?
Maybe we removed too much now?

Another problem (or feature :-))

Select one image, then Shift+Click on an image some rows below the currently
selected.
Images are not selected continuously, but in a kind of "block selection mode".

Re: New icon view

Bugzilla from andi.clemens@gmx.net
I guess selecting is totally broken. Try to select one image, the shift+click
another (in the same row). It seems to select some random items. It is never
the range you specify.

Another problem:

Select some images in IconView, rate them (for example CTRL+5).
The images seem to be rated, and also the quickfilter works.
But when you change the album and come back to the previous, the image rating
is gone again.

Re: New icon view

Bugzilla from andi.clemens@gmx.net
I want to note that this issue only appears when using the keyboard shortcuts,
when using the right sidebar it seems to work correctly.

Re: New icon view

Bugzilla from andi.clemens@gmx.net
Ok, I can not track the problem down properly because those commits I tracked
down can not be compiled.
So I made a screenshot to show the commits that have broken the keyboard
rating.
I hope the screenshot will be attached to this mailinglist, I will CC Gilles
and Marcel, too.

Marcel,

can you see something special here?

In the screenshot, the important commits are the skipped ones.
I guess the mail will not be sent to the mailinglist, I already got a message
that it waits for moderator approval... and it has always failed it...

The weird selection must be introduced in those commits from the screenshot,
too.
