I just upgraded one machine (Kubuntu 9.04) to KDE 4.3 beta. Now,
Digikam on that machine (0.10.0) does not show the user's photos! I tried playing with the Include Album Sub-Tree and Include Tag Sub-Tree toggles as I remember them causing problems before, but it did not help. The Collections item shows that this collection is loaded and even wishes that the user enjoy the collection, alas, the photos do not appear. Any ideas? Thanks. -- Dotan Cohen http://what-is-what.com http://gibberish.co.il _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

I can at least assure you that this is not a kubuntu / kde 4.3 beta problem, since digikam (1.0 svn) is running fine here on such a system. Dotan, you need to recompile / link digiKam against KDE 4.3.
If you installed KDE from an unofficial repo, chances are that digiKam is not working correctly now, because it is still linked against KDE 4.1.x or KDE 4.2.x. Check if digiKam is available in this repo, if not you need to compile it for yourself. Andi On Sunday 21 June 2009 13:34:30 Dotan Cohen wrote: > > room == this mailing list (:=))) > > I see. Yes, but you compiled for yourself.

Other than building Digikam (a pain) or reverting back to KDE 4.2, are there any other options? Is there a Digikam for 4.3 .deb file floating around that I could install? Well this is why you shouldn't mix stable with unstable stuff (or officical
with unofficial repos) :-) If you want to use the latest software all the time, choose a rolling release distribution like Archlinux (or compile the stuff that is not working). Maybe there is a newer version of digiKam in the PPA? Andi On Sunday 21 June 2009 19:40:29 Dotan Cohen wrote: > > I saw your problem mentioned in the kubuntu list..... No need to use this repo, its version of digikam is terribly outdated. Just downgrade libmarble to 4.2.4. You will lose some extras of KDE 4.3 but digikam will work again. _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

Digikam PPA is outdated, but there is Digikam 1.0.0 beta1 in Kubuntu- PPA/Experimental, therefore it should work. Which version of digikam have you installed? Can you start digikam from command line and report what it prints to screen? Any ideas? This is almost always a problem with the kioslaves, either not installed, installed in the wrong place, not found by kdelibs, not linking due to binary incompatibility, old versions lying around etc. (and such problems have indeed often enough be reported with all versions of digikam in this mailing list) Marcel _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |
