Hi.
I have recently installed a new computer with kubuntu lucid lynx and digikam 1.2.0. On my old computer (laptop) I was using KDE 3.5 and an old digikam. How do I import the captions and other metadata from the database on the old computer into the database on the new computer? The paths to the images are exactly the same as before. regards, Gerrit. _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |
You need to copy the digikam database file from the old computer to the new computer and change the volumeid of the collection to match the new computer. Make backups of everything! Install SQLite database browser from the ubuntu software center Open the new computer's digikam database file in SQLite browser Go to the "browse data" tab In the albumroots table, find the volumeid of your new collection, copy and paste it into a text editor
Copy the old computer's database file to the new computer. Open this file in SQLite browser Change the volumeid to the one recorded before, save and exit On Wed, May 19, 2010 at 4:31 PM, Gerrit Holl <[hidden email]> wrote: Hi. _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

Copy the database file and the digikamrc file (~/.kde4/share/config/) to your new system. I'd by interested if all works smoothly. You should be asked about a changed partition, with a suggestion to the new place. It should work, if not there's a bug somewhere. _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

If the old file is named digikam4.db, you can also try only copying the digikam4.db file somewhere and point to it using the first-run wizard. _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

I have tried this, but the new captions do not show up. However, they are in the database! For example, imageid=43935, in table ImageComments, has comment="Rautasälven in autumn". In the 'Images' table, the field for 'album' is empty. It seems my database is messed up now... If you want I can upload this digikam4_messedup.db somewhere. I'll try some more. I made an error on my side, I failed to copy the config-file correctly. Thanks! :) Gerrit. _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |
