Hi all
Running 0.94-rc1 If I am doing a raw (Nikon) conversion (color issues are fixed, perfect) to jpg, I have all pics in the same orientation and with a very bad resolution in the viewer but 10MB file size. If I am editing a picture e.g. to put in the right orientation, and save again all is fine. What I am doing wrong? Nothing. You try to compare 2 different way to display RAW images : 1/ Preview (F3) : to speed up RAW image display, preview mode do not use RAW image data but the jpeg embedded in RAW file. This version is generally more small than original image. It's very fast. 2/ Edit (F4) : here the real raw image data are decoded. it's take a while, but the image size are always fine. Hi Gilles
Thanks for answer. But, you missunderstood me. After conversion to JPG I have the bad resolution and wrong orientation in the viewer. If I show the converted picture in slideshow I have the same bad resolution. I have to edit it and save again in JPG to get the high resolution. If I do the conversion with NikonFX or LightZone, I do not have this issue. best regards Michael _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |
Michael,
are you sure that in digikam you * open the raw file * make your adjustments * save it as a jpeg * and then *view the result jpeg* because what you describe makes me think that after your conversion you view the raw file again. With the raw file you will always see only the embedded preview image, which in digikam does not get rotated. Lightzone saves a rotation in a private datastructure (probably the xmp sidecar file) and for this reason only it knows that you rotated the image. But in Lightzone you have in the end three files of one image: the raw file itself, the _lzn.jpg file with the lightzone settings for this file and an embedded preview in a better resolution than the preview in the raw file, plus the result of your conversion, the final .jpg or .tif file. Both programs do not alter the raw file itself, and the quality of the preview image embedded in the raw file can not be different. So for a slide show you have to use the result file (in lightzone's case you can use the _lzn.jpg file too as for slideshows you usually don't need the full resolution) Best regards Markus _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

What's the viewer for you ? the preview mode using F3 or Slideshow ? If yes, JPEG are loaded too using a reduced resolution image version. Only editor (F4) load the full image data.
