no download possible via USB mass storage

Uwe Haider
Hi together,

back again with a problem I can't solve for me alone.

I got a few digicams here (Nikon D50, Casio Exilim Z9, Sanyo, Pentax). A
few weeks ago all are working fine with the digikam download. Since I
bought the Casio the download of all is broken...

I simply get the message "Es ist ein Fehler aufgetreten" (= an error
occurred). Nothing else.

The camera ist detectet and shows up. I have permissions to write to my
digikam-drive - extern USB Western Digital with 320 GB.

I am busy making pictures, so I have to download urgently. Where should
I search for the reason of this strange behavior?

Every hint or tip is very much appreciated - thanks a lot!

Bugzilla from mikmach@wp.pl

Quick solution: try to download outside of digiKam and import later.

For digiKam try to start from konsole and copy'n'paste messages from it.

I always use an external card reader myself. Never had any problems, doesn't
drain the camera batteries and is lightning fast. That's what i would
recommend.

Card Reader doesn't works too... There appears no device, no files...

Perhaps an USB-Problem?

But the pictures show up in digikam or thunar, showfoto etc... So usb
works a bit?
Kernel is 2.6.25-gentoo-r7. I am not sure, how to config the kernel for
usb.

best regards
uwe

Re: no download possible via USB mass storage

Uwe Haider
ok, here we go:

starting digikam in terminal I get this errors after opening my nikon
D50:

digikam: WARNING: media:/camera mlu media:/camera
File 'curve.ntc' is not readable.
File 'curve.ntc' is not readable.
File 'DSC_0001.JPG' is not readable.

The files can be shown in Showfoto direct from the Nikon. Nikon can be
opened with the filemanager.

Any ideas? Once upon a time it works fine....:O

best regards

uwe

Re: no download possible via USB mass storage

Uwe Haider
It is getting better, isn't it?

I got roundabout 20 files down from the nikon. But the others give the
same error.

I used usb direct from the Nikon with usb mass storage mode in digikam.

Any ideas?

best regards
uwe
