Hello,
I really like Digikam for organizing (especially tagging) my photos. But somehow I always prefer EOG when I control new photos and watch old photos. Here are some suggestions: 1. when you click on the "Zoom to 100%" button it should focus on the middle on the photo and NOT on the upper left corner. Usually there is nothing in the upper left corner. 2. the 1:1 Button should be on top 3. there should be an extra button to go back to fitted mode 3. the scroll wheel of the mouse should let you zoom 4. all buttons on the top should be bigger and more dominant Look at EOG for details. Alternatively there could be a way that double click on a photo starts EOG. There's some clouds, most of the time... ;>))) Seriously, it's not a big affair for me, you can quickly scroll to the center, in an other way you can use the wheel zoom (with ctrl as I just discover) : it zooms where your mouse pointer is ! > > 2. the 1:1 Button should be on top On top of what ? Next to the arrow buttons for going to next/previous photo and for turning photos. Look at EOG's (Eye of Gnome) design please. Yes, the button is lost in fullscreen too, another issue. There is no way to move the button so far.

First I was confused, because I hid those buttons :-) But, I think it would be smart to place them in a toolbar, that would allow people to select a size and add/remove buttons to their liking. Stay in the current area, by default center. If image is zoomed, use current center. Hi there, I haven't to contribute anything usefull to your problem, unfortunately. For me viewing pictures with digikam works good enough, though I agree with the upper left/ centering issue. Open a bugreport with your wishes, probably you are not the only one. I certainly will not install a software I'm not gonna use just to see how you think something should look. Comprehensible descriptions are always the best thing, as, like in this examples, it gives non-gnome users the chance to understand what you actually want. Same goes for acronymes, up until this mail I hadn't had the slightest clue wha EOG stands for, and certainly couldn't be bothered to look it up. No offense meant. ;-) I work a lot with key shortcuts, so buttons are not that big an issue for me. I kind of like the idea of zooming with the scroll wheel. But what I like even more is going forward and backward (next/ previous picture) with the wheel button. Then again, I mostly use the keys for that as well. ;-) Can you choose the wheel for zooming in the dialog for custom shortcuts? Just an idea. Finally, I do prefer not having any buttons cluttering my full view, imo that should be reserved for just seeing the image. Then you can add buttons, like the arrows and 1:1 button from the left side (available actions/ verfügbare Aktionen) to the right (displayed actions/ angezeigte Aktionen), and you can choose where you want to place the button in relation to the others by dragging it up and down the list. At least on digikam 2.3.0 with linux. And for finding the Region Of Interest there is this arrow-cross in the lowest right corner: Clicking and holding the mouse button pressed one can move around the ROI easily.
