Dear Digikam - I have been "on the list" for several years, but
apparently am not a "member". Please advise. What is the difference? What are members privileges and/or responsibilities. I rarely have a question, but read all the others' posts and have learned a great deal although I am not tech saavy or a professional photographer. Thank you for what you do! |

I'm sorry but I don't understand the question about "member" regarding to the digikam community? /PhilipThere are no real membership here on the list. Some people here are developers and can commit source code to the digikam project and for that you need to be approved and authorized by the development team. You need an account on kde for committing bug reports but that can anyone open and contribute with bug reports or feature wishes. Or have I missed something? Thanks, Philip. I should have kept a copy of the message I have
received when submitting a question; essentially saying "you are not a member, so your post is held for approval." A few times I would see a reply soon - as you did this time; sometimes never; sometimes much later, so I became confused and discouraged! I do, in fact, want to continue to read and learn, and am not able to contribute any expertise in development. I appreciate your reply. Hi Ann,
Could it be that you receive your emails on another address than the address you use for sending emails?
The background: * there is (as Philip told) no 'digikam membership', but there is 'mailing list membership' : anyone who has registered to receive email from this list. * imagine you got an a.fuller@gmail-account that you used to register at the digikam-mailinglist, and then let Gmail forward the email to your afuller@wefu-account. * in that case, when you send a reply, the mailing list can not recognize your (@wefu) account, as it was never registered. * the reason for that is that it helps to keep (some) spammers of the list, as they have to register their email address before their emails are accepted
I imagine something like that is the case with your 'list membership address' and your 'regular email address'.
To find out which email address is receiving your list-emails, you can have a look at the message details (also called 'headers' or 'view source', depending on the software you use for reading your email).
Good luck and don't become discouraged: the list is for discussions and for getting help, not just when you have expertise in development or professional photography!
Best regards,
Boudewijn
PS: I sent directly to your wefu-address, so that a reply should at least reach me even if it does not show up on the mailinglist so quickly.
