importing Picasa desktop albums

Hi,

I'm looking to migrate from Picasa (on windows) to digiKam (on Ubuntu). Can't seem to find the feature of importing all my hard worked ~500 albums from the last 7 years (Google seems to give results for importing Picasa Web Albums). Would love to be shown how to do it, or vote for adding this feature.

When I began to use Digikam 3 years ago, I imported all my pictures that were previously managed with Photoshop Elements. As all the tags were stored in the pictures, I didn't loose anything, except for the tags hierarchy that I had to recreate manually in Digikam.
But I don't know whether Picasa does the same thing (not sure as I think it uses virtual albums).

I got my photos out of Picasa and into digikam by using google.com/takeout and just unzipping the downloaded zipfiles folders into my Pictures folder.

The hard part for me was to find ANY way to get my photos out of picasa.

Aren't you refering to PicasaWeb (the gallery online)?
I thought we were speaking about the Picasa software you use on your own Windows machine, to organize and edit your pictures.

I am talking about PicasaWeb.  I may have had a unique situation, but many of my photos had been directly uploaded to PicasaWeb from my phone and my computer did not have them all.  All of my photos were in PicasaWeb, but not all were on my PC because Picasa for windows (and mac and linux probably) has a habit of leaving the full quality image in PicasaWeb when it started there.

Go to bugs.kde.org and look for Product == kipiplugins, Component ==
PicasaWeb to see if there's already a request (wishlist). I don't know
