What do you mean you cannot view the files? Where? in digiKam? or in

images are not visible/cannot be viewed from digikam.
they "are" seen from dolphin. the files exist in the director /home/sayantan/Pictures i tried deleting the .db files and restarting digikam again, without any success! :(

in the other cases, this all i did was install the supporting packages, and then cmake and make install digikam, nothing more or less. Should i download the git repo again and build it, if it helps?

No remove previous version. Clean up your system and install only git/master...
