filtering/disbale collection

Hi

I have 3 collections in Digikam 3.4.0. I want to filter by date or something
else but only with one or two collections.

In setup I can delete a collection but I fear to do that because I don't know  
what it does. Is all meta data lost then?

Anyway I'm missing a possibility to select the collections I want to query.

(By the way, the search module is not what I want)

Is there a way to do that?

To query for searching. You can do it as you want. Just select the
right dirs by pop-up menu.

But that's exactly what I don't want.

I have 3 collections and I want to use digikam with only one of them. I guess
this is currently not possible?!

You could use the advanced search to achieve such a filtering

Hi Anders

Nobody seems to understand me :-)

I can do that with advanced search but then I can't use anything else but the
filter tab.

If I'm able to activate one collection I can use whatever selection/filtering I
want. For example by date by geo coordinates etc. That can't be done with
advanced search, right?

So it is currently not possible. Am I right?

What is needed to provide such a functionality?
My guess is:

- switches to en-/disable a collection
  (maybe in settings or in the album tab?)

- respect the active collections in all queries
 (I guess there is a relation in the DB to collections, so that should be
possible)

What do you think?

Maybe the functionality is already there with the collections on removable
media and all what is needed are the switches?

Maybe your request is not clear enough so we could understand what you want to do. :-)

The first parameter in advanced search is "Album", where you can select all the albums you want the search to go through. Doesn't it work for you?

You might be right and I need to be more clear.

Nevertheless ... you can use advanced search. And then?

I want to go to the date tab or select photos on the map. When I do that my search is gone. And the results are from all collections again. I just want to use all features of digikam with NOT all of my collections.

So I need to be able to deactivte collections.

Maybe I'm missing the point. But then tell me please.

may be not what you are looking for, but sort og.

I have my archives on separate disks, not mounted at boot (I need to
clic on them in Dolphin to have them mounted, for example)

when launching digikam, it do *not* trigger the mounting of the disks
and if not yet done asks to know if these disks are removables. If yes
it tags them as removable and do not care since next launch, so it's a
way to disable these collections (a bit raw :-()
