Hello,
I would like to launch gimp from digikam with only one touch (I have a lot of images with a dust on it), but don't find a way (right clicking hundred of times is boring) any solution? thanks jdd -- http://www.dodin.org http://jddtube.dodin.org/20120616-52-highway_v1115 _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |
Hello,
select all relevant images. Click "Open with". Choose GIMP. It works for me here. I have 750 of them! opening a window for each image is the default gimp way. But, for example, in gwenview, when you open *one* image, the next button gives you the next image in the folder. I don't think gimp can do the same, alas thanks jdd -- http://www.dodin.org http://jddtube.dodin.org/20120616-52-highway_v1115 _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

When you have hundred or thousands pictures to open with Gimp you get lot of time. Digikam can't do that so I use Konqueror or Nautilus to launch Gimp in one click. The real question is : is Digikam able to edit pictures as well as Gimp ? I think not. So, if you need to work with Digikam, my opinion is that Digikam need shorcut to quickly launch Gimp Best regards Maderios >> >> but it opens *all* the image at the same time! If I may suggest... I'm a Gimp user too. When I do some image(s) edition, I start Digikam AND Gimp. Then a simple mouse drag/drop between the DK album thumbnails view and the Gimp window opens the image in Gimp. When Gimp edition is over, save image, close image window, then next drag/drop from DK thumbnails view. It is on command line, but there are good tutorials. It is very fast and can do almost everything. You can safe your commands in a text file, so you remember them... I think, doing mostly the same on hundrets of images in an image editor is very time comsuming and boring, so investing a little bit of time in getting to know how to use imagemagick is more than worthwhile. un saludo Daniel -- Daniel Bauer photographer Basel Barcelona professional photography: http://www.daniel-bauer.com personal facebook: http://www.facebook.com/mars.fotografo google+: https://plus.google.com/109534388657020287386 _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

For now, I am forced to use Konqueror or Nautilus to open my pictures. I have to visually choose a part of the photo with the same color as the dust masked part and copy it. It's not the same part for every image :-( thanks jdd -- http://www.dodin.org http://jddtube.dodin.org/20120616-52-highway_v1115 _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

I think this is a kde problem, in fact, not digikam one. Looking at this I may have found a solution, almost partially. In the kde configuration, second line, you have a module "shortcuts and gesture". Contrary to the digikam version, this module have an "edit" button at the bottom that allows you to enter a global shortcut. For example I could add "gimp" to "Alt G". Where I need help is to add the option to make gimp open the digikam selected photo (if possible). Right now it only opens a free window thanks jdd -- http://www.dodin.org http://jddtube.dodin.org/20120616-52-highway_v1115 _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

But I found an option. clic on the fox upper left icon (gimp), select "advanced" "always on top" and voilà! alwyas glad to see a discussion leading to a solution :-) thanks jdd -- http://www.dodin.org http://jddtube.dodin.org/20120616-52-highway_v1115 _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

Well, you need to do this only if your Gimp window is 100% covered by your Digikam window (perhaps in full screen mode ?). But if you size/place the two windows in a way to always have a small part of the Gimp window visible, it works straightforward. Drag'n'drop implementation requires you can see even a square centimeter of the target window even when te htarget window isn't selected. And dropping makes the target window raise over all others, ready to work. I really think drag'n'drop is the most handy way to share files when both applications, the source one and the target one, feature D'n'D. And it's faster than the « Right menu, Open with, select application... » mechanism. Same can be done between Dolphin and Gimp. Regards, Jean-François PS: Wilber, the Gimp mascot, isn't a fox but is a coyote. But yes, aside from zoological interest, it changes very few things to the edition processing:-)) _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |
