Bug ID: 360954 Summary: digikam - no spell checking when entering meta data Product: digikam Version: 5.0.0 Platform: Chakra OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Tags Assignee: [hidden email] Reporter: [hidden email] When entering meta data like title or caption there is no spell check anymore in the Plasma5 version of digikam. Neither could I find a way to switch it on or off. As much as I remember spell checking was offered in the digikam4 series. Reproducible: Always -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. _______________________________________________ Digikam-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-devel |

[hidden email] changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |[hidden email] --- Comment #1 from [hidden email] --- The spell checking is a KDE library only feature, through KTextEdit widget. In the goal to port step by step to pure Qt5 implementation, KTextEdit have been replaced by QLineEdit everywhere, which do not provide this feature yet. [hidden email] changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|UNCONFIRMED |RESOLVED Resolution|--- |WONTFIX Version Fixed In| |5.1.0 --- Comment #3 from [hidden email] --- Definitively, we will not restore this feature with KDE API support. To improve portability, digiKam has dropped 80% of KDE dependencies. We are now able to generate easily an OSX and Windows installer. The Speelchecker from KLineEdit or KTextEdit add a lots of extra dependencies which are a lots to time to solve. We need definitilvely to reduce the compilation puzzle introduced by KDE API. And if we can finally provide a pure Qt5 application in the future we will do it. So, now we use exclusively QLineEdit and QTextEdit widgets in digiKam. If you want in the futre to have a spellchecking in digiKam, report this problem to QT team to see this feature implemented in next Qt release.
