[digikam] [Bug 354505] New: Geolocations gone

bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=354505

            Bug ID: 354505
           Summary: Geolocations gone
           Product: digikam
           Version: 4.12.0
          Platform: Kubuntu Packages
                OS: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: major
          Priority: NOR
         Component: Geolocation
          Assignee: [hidden email]
          Reporter: [hidden email]

After upgrading to wily and digikam 4.12.0 the information about geolocation is
completely gone. Also gone is the ability to tag photos mit geo-information.

I did a clean install of wily in a virtual machine - still no geolocation.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. install/upgrade wily 15.10
2. fire up digikam
3. stare at the missing information ;-)

Geolocation is optional at compilation time.

digiKam continue to support Geolocation, and this will not be changed in the
future. It's a main feature.

In other words, it's a DOWNSTREAM problem. Report it to packagers.

Having read https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/marble/+bug/1511503 it
turns out that there is a major dependency problem in conflict with marble
using Qt5 libraries.
Both marble and digikam access a common library libkgeomap2, but in different
versions if I read it the right way.

Not too promising.
