In the album configuration I have activated "Show image (photo) format", and I
have added .KRA and .ORA file extension to "Mimetypes" (image files). However,
the format label is not showed for those format types.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Activate "Show image (photo) format" in the "Album configuration" of Digikam
2.Open an album with KRA or ORA files


Actual Results:  
Label is void for KRA and ORA files

Expected Results:  
Show the label KRA for .kra files and ORA for .ora files

What do you mean by "format label" ? The type mime thumbnail overlay ?

Pushed by cgilles into branch 'master'.

To register new files in database, do not handle image formats with KMimeType
which can return garbage/uncomplete information (fully reproducible with Raster
images).
Return directly file name suffix instead.
