digikam 0.11.0 or 1.0.0 ?

Gilles Caulier-4
Hi all,

The question is open. After a long time, I'm fine to switch version id
to 1.0.0.

Andi, Marcel, Mik, Mathias, Julien, Gerhard, etc... Your viewpoints ?

Gilles

As a developer I'm too fresh to the game to even have an opinion on this :-)

As a user I think digikam is at a point where the existing features fully
support my work flow. For me it's 1.0.0.

Personally, I don't care much how it is numbered ... ;-)
But, for many people a 1.0 somehow seems important.
Therefore, it might make sense to ensure that it is a very stable
release. I.e. lots of testing (maybe a longer beta period
than usual?), so that the impression of digikam 1.0
is as good as possible from the very beginning?

Just my 2 cents, best Arnd

P.S. I have so many wishes, but so little time at the moment, that
I don't get to coding ;-( ...

+1 for 1.0

digiKam makes enough to justify that.

I also would vote for 1.0.0.
0.11 really sounds like earliest development status, but digiKam exists for
more then 8 years. 1.0.0 doesn't mean it's final, just "good enough to work
with it", at least for me. And digiKam has this status since a few years :-)

As Arndt mentioned, the debugging / beta testing phase should be a little bit
longer, so that this major version jump is running smoothly.

I have no strong opinion on this. Do it for 0.11, or do it for the next version. I let you decide ;-)
