[digiKam-users] import of keyword thesaurus files

Jean-Jacques MONOT
Hello

I would like to import external files in DigiKam containing some exhaustive list of keywords (hierarchical tree listing). For example, this list gives you all places you want in Paris for example :

I have this functionality in Lightroom and also in Darktable.

I have not found any way to do this on the windows version of DigiKam, and I was quite surprised.

As turnaround solution, I have build a fake jpeg image containing a full list of keywords in order to try to get them in DigiKam, integrating this image in a digikam collection, but it failed (too much keywords certainly), and this not very easy to do.

Is this possible to do this in Digikam ("simple" .txt keywords import) ?

Best regards.

No, it's not yet implemented. We have a report in bugzilla about this topic.

XMP sidecar must be used for this purpose...

I'm also interested in that feature. Do you have a sample XMP sidecar?

Thanks

Hi
Even if is an old question it might still be useful...
I found this solution
"you can use a dummy image, assign all possible metadata tags of interest to
it and share that tagged dummy image. Once imported into digiKam on another
machine, that machine’s digiKam tag tree will be updated automatically and
will then contain all tags present in your dummy image."

here is the source (not much photography-related):
https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/camtrapR/vignettes/camtrapr2.html

I hope it works
 Cheers
Juan
