[digiKam-users] folder-structure

Robert Reichel
Hi,
this is my first contact with digiKam, and I didn't get one thing: is it right, that digiKam uses the original folder hierarchy of the macOS finder instead of importing all photos in a database or a proprietary folder system?
Thanks in forward, Robert

Yes digiKam albums are the same as the structure on the disk but it does
also use a database for storing information about your photos and tags,
most of which can also be written to the photos themselves or else
sidecar files.

Yes, and that's one of my major reasons for using it! :-)

My computer OS has already got many ways of handling and organising
directories which have been developed and improved over many years so
why re-invent the wheel by doing it all over again, probably badly?
