Converted yesterday from dk5.9 appimage to dk6beta2 appimage.
I just noticed a problem: all my portrait orientation images are sideways: https://i.imgur.com/rx6EMNX.png How to deal with that? -- sknahT vyS |
Hi, When you touch orientation of preview with camera, this do not change the RAW data but the JPEG preview image embedded inside the file. The problem is : the JPEG image has no Exif info attached (where we found the orientation information in standard). The only information oabout orientation come from standard Exif from RAW metadata. Both image are different as you post-process orientation with camera. So now, digiKam is lost. Perhaps this information from Canon JPEG preview can be taken from private RAW makernotes, i don't know. Another solution will be to render the thumbnail with RAW data (using a simplified demosaicing to prevent time latency). I would to know how software render the CR2 preview here ? Aperture, LR, etc... Best Gilles Caulier Le mar. 16 oct. 2018 à 02:09, <[hidden email]> a écrit : Correction: |

Are sidecar files available? DigiKam now also recognizes modified sidecar
files if the modification date does not match that in the database. Eventually a changed orientation comes from here as well. Also, LR sidecars are now preferred, if they are available. Sorry but I will have to disagree with you. dk 5.9.0 doesn't have the
problem: dk 6beta2: https://i.imgur.com/W5bNhcM.png dk5.9.0: 9709.cr2: https://i.imgur.com/kFfvkrx.png dk5.9.0: 9726.cr2: https://i.imgur.com/0refWgf.png I have also attached the xmps for the files. If you need I can also provide the cr2 (canon-raw) images. To me it seem that: * 5.9.0 reads the image preview (b&w preview) and uses that for the thumbnails * 6beta2 tries to process the image and use the resulting mini-image for the thumbnails Thanks Syv On Tue, 16 Oct 2018 07:41:14 +0200 Gilles Caulier <[hidden email]> wrote: > Hi, > > Welcome to the RAW shot world. Hi Maik,
I just read the thread and I don't understand how I can rebuild my thumbnails. Maybe I missed something (according to my wife that happens all the time). Further info:
The rotating is done by DK6beta2 1. I copied a all bunch of files into one of the directory "watched" by DK6b2, including about 30 images in portrait orientation 2. DK6b2 first displayed the thumbnail in the portrait orientation 3. after a few seconds DK6b2 processed these images and rotated them 1 by 1 to landscape. I'm not using DK for any image processing, I'm using Rawtherapee. Is there a way of disabling image processing in DK? Does the problem only occur with RAW files taken in B&W?

And your RAW images that you have already loaded with digiKam-5.9.0, are also

That B&W RAW thumbnails are rendered in color is already undone in git/master.
It was the desire of photographers who shoot in JPEG + RAW to see the RAW image then the original and not the embedded B & W preview image. However, we have 2 issues currently, not all B&W thumbnails are actually always B&W and contain colored pixels from the compression. And to recognize the actual orientation to the original RAW image. When Gilles creates updated packages (> 15.10.2018), the problem is fixed for you. Maik Am Donnerstag, 18.
