[digiKam-users] Digikam stuck in splash screen

Ok, I think I broke digikam yesterday. Now it never goes past the splash
screen, showing "Loading tools..." on top.

The last thing I remember doing was scanning for duplicates (after creating
all the fingerprints), correcting some dates, and creating a new search (by
camera model) in the search panel.

I am using digikam-6.2.0-git-20190423T140539-qtwebkit-x86-64.appimage, but I
also tried the newest one
 (20190423) with the same result.

I reply to myself: I edited the digikam4.db file, went to the "Search" table
and observed that there were around 11700 saved searches in there, most
likely matches when finding duplicates. I deleted all these rows from the
database (except for the searches I created manually) and now digikam works
again.

I guess it can't handle so many duplicates.

I guess that you are using SQLlite, if so I wonder if that even any good for large databases.

By the way, I manually disabled some plugins in the configuration back in the
day, as I didn't use them. But only from the "Generic" tab, not the "Image
Editor" tab, which all of them are checked (43 out of 43). I don't know if
that's what you observed.

After a second look, editor plugins are found.  Presumably you have disabled all.  Of course DigiKam should start anyway.  I fix it tonight.  You have to enable an editor plugin again in the config file. 

The Windows version has no problem if all editor plugins are disabled.  Continue until tonight...
