Also, do you plan to release any deb packages for ubuntu?

As it is part of KDE SC for Windows project : I'd say one or two weeks
after the KDE 4.4 release date (2/9/2010). Patrick Spendrin could say you more on his worklow : http://mail.kde.org/pipermail/kde-windows/2009-November/004467.html I don't know how he manages the digiKam releases as digiKam is not part of KDE SC for GNU/Linux I believe, but I think he will publish the latest release this time as digiKam was release before KDE SC 4.4 He may be busy, you can wait for an eventual announcement on the KDE-promo mailing list : http://lists.kde.org/?l=kde-promo&m=125958840205702&w=2 Hope I didn't say anything wrong. OK, thanks. How about compiling it? I just tried emerge --print-installable, and it told me
digikam 1.0.0.20091221 and kipi-plugins 0.2.0.20090407. ________________________________________ From: Laurent Espitallier [[hidden email]] Sent: Tuesday, 2 February 2010 9:03 AM To: digiKam - Home Manage your photographs as a professional with the power of open source Subject: Re: [Digikam-users] digiKam 1.1.0 released... Thanks. I probably don't need to know, but what's a "tag"?
And when you say "latest", what does that mean? The latest release, or the latest development version? Sorry to ask basic questions, but I'm new to this side of things, and I have to say I'm sorry that general users really need to know this stuff to get an update. After the struggle getting it compiled last time, I'm hoping I now have all the components in place necessary to make this one run a bit smoother. > Thanks. I probably don't need to know, but what's a "tag"? A tag is a label applied to the source tree at various points. This enables you to checkout a consistent set of files from those points in the past with a (possibly) informative name. However I should have checked before I mentioned them, digikam source does not seem to be tagged. So instead of a tag you will need to use the revision number for 1.1.0 if you want to get that precise set of files. I believe that it was revision 1082900. > And when you say "latest", what does that mean? The latest release, > or the latest development version? When I say latest it is the latest development code, at least the latest that was checked in. But calling it a version is a bit strong. As it is not a formal release it is possible for bugs and build issues to be present so you have to be prepared for the odd breakage to happen. > After the struggle getting it compiled last time, I'm hoping I now > have all the components in place necessary to make this one run a bit > smoother. I hope so too. Andrew _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

I ran those commands, and they seemed to complete with no obvious problems, took only a couple of hours rather than 15 like the first time.
But when I run the new digikam.exe I just get the message "The application c:\kderoot\bin\libdigikamlib.dll is not a valid windows image". That file certainly exists and has a recent date and time. It's 48MB in size. ________________________________________ From: Andrew Goodbody [[hidden email]] Sent: Wednesday, 3 February 2010 9:36 AM To: digiKam - Home Manage your photographs as a professional with the power of open source Subject: Re: [Digikam-users] digiKam 1.1.0 released...
