Dear all digiKam fans and users!
The digiKam development team is happy to release the 3rd KDE4 beta version. The digiKam tarball can be downloaded from SourceForge as well. http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=42641&package_id=34800 Take care, it's always a BETA code with many of new bugs not yet fixed... Do not use yet in production... ... for production use KDE3 with 0.9.4 which have been released this summer. To compile this KDE4 version, you need libkexiv2, libkdcraw, and libkipi for KDE4. These libraries are now included in KDE core. You need last libkdcraw and libkexiv2 from svn trunk to compile digiKam (will be released with KDE 4.2). To extract libraries source code from svn, look at bottom of this page for details : http://www.digikam.org/drupal/download?q=download/svn For others depencies, consult the README file. There are also optional depencies to enable some new features as lensfun for lens auto-correction, and marble for geolocation. The digikam.org web site has been redesigned for the new KDE4 series. In reply to this post by Gilles Caulier-4
Hi, all,
I tried to compile digiKam 0.10.0-beta3. Here is the message I get: -- digiKam 0.10.0-beta3 dependencies results -- -- Qt4 SQL module found........... YES -- libgphoto2 library found....... YES -- libtiff library found.......... YES -- libpng library found........... YES -- libjasper library found........ YES -- liblcms library found.......... YES -- libkipi library found.......... NO -- CMake Error at CMakeLists.txt:150 (message): digiKam needs libkipi library >= 0.2.0. You need to install libkipi first -- libkipi website is at http://www.kipi-plugins.org -- -- libkexiv2 library found........ NO -- CMake Error at CMakeLists.txt:160 (message): digiKam needs libkexiv2 library >= 0.2.0. You need to install libkexiv2 first -- libkexiv2 website is at http://www.kipi-plugins.org -- -- libkdcraw library found........ NO -- CMake Error at CMakeLists.txt:170 (message): digiKam needs libkdcraw library >= 0.2.0. You need to install libkdcraw first -- libkdcraw website is at http://www.kipi-plugins.org -- I went to the kipi-plugins website but did not find the required files to download and install. All the available versions seemed to be too old. Does this mean to run the latest digikam I need the whole kde desktop stuff? I really don't want to run the kde desktop - it comes with a lot of freight. I like my icewm desktop very much - a nice blank screen greets me when I log in ("startx") from the command line. What does "KDE core" mean? I just installed a whole bunch of kde 4 stuff in order to get as far as I did with the digikam build. I run Debian Lenny 64-bit. What Debian package(s) am I missing? Thanks so much for assistance or information. Elle

All the available versions seemed to be too old. libkipi for kde4 is part of kdegraphics now. Yu should install kdegraphics-devel package.
