Hi,
In the setttings I can't choose a profile for the monitor, it's greyed out and "just takes one". Why? It's slow and i think to implemente screen CM under digiKam is not the final solution. This must been done by window manager (or something like that), not the user application. Hello,
I own a Spyder2express, If I understand well,it's better to apply the monitor profile outside of digikam using tools like http://www.etg.e-technik.uni-erlangen.de/web/doe/xcalib/ Am I correct ?? link to xcalib found on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux_color_management Kind regards, Etienne _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

I wrote an howto using both tools and try to do some measure to see if what we get is color correct: http://linux.vilars.com/ _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

Daniel, i never use here digiKam Monitor color correction. We have done this option to be fully compliant with a color management workflow. Or how do you avoid having displayed "wrong" colors (like when using wide gamut workspace without monitor correction)? Nicolas, Gilles, please explain if I'm right or wrong: As I see it, correction outside digiKam is only to display (s)rgb pictures correctly, i.e. to correct the "rgb-errors" of the monitor. But it can't transform a picture from another working space (like wide gamut) to the correct monitor display, or can it? If I use (s)rgb for working space, don't I then loose color information in my files compared to using wide gamut? If I load the monitor ICC-profile in the graphicscard with a utility like xcalib or dispwin when starting the X11 environment, then there will be no more need to use the "Use color managed view"-option from the advanced colormanagement settings? And is this through for digiKam only, or for every application that uses colormanagement, as bibble for instance?
