automatic thumbnail generation

Hi folks,
I'm using digikam since serveral weeks and I quite enjoy it ;-)
But one thing annoys me a bit, after adding several new RAW (pef) images
to the database, digikam doesn't generate the thumbnails for the
complete folder on the fly, but only for the part of the folder which is
shown... so I have to scroll the folder in thumbnailview very slowly to
have all the thumbnails generated... after that everything works fine...
Is there a way to generate all thumbnails for the new images in background?
Another small problem, is there a way to assign a shortcut to "open
with... (and then a programm)"?

I would love that too, but it is not implemented.

to me.

Gilles, would it be possible to assign short-cuts
to dynamically generated menu-entries, as the one
for "Open with"?

But you can use 'Tools/Rebuild all Thumbnails' for the whole collection.

No. it's not an action registered to ActionCollection object. action
is create dynamically when pop-up menu is created

Hmm, so there is nothing which can be done for those?
(Or are there other possibilities for KDE4 ?)

Thanks for your answers.
another option would be to implement the "open with" direktly into
digikam, like in GQview, you can choose, say 5, programms with switches
to which digikam will send the raw-file... since that is then inside
digikam, shortcuts should be possible...
when do you plan to fix that thumbnail generation bug, in 0.10 or earlier?
anyway, I like digikam ;-)
