View mode: display metadata

Julien T
Hello,

when using view mode, I want to display (if possible, on the sides)
some of the picture's metadata like full filename (sometimes truncated
in status bar if too long), CreateDate, Aperture, Speed, ...

is there a way to do this ?
Else it would be a useful addition.

Thanks a lot.
Cheers,

Julien

You'll see such informations using one of the right sidebars.
You can even configure them in the preferences.
I'm afraid I can't give you more precise hints, but at the moment I'm on Mac Os X, and latest digikam build trough macports crashes all the time.

Which versuion you use ? 1.9.0 or 2.0.0 ?

1.9.0 work fine here on my macbook. It's probably an external
component from KDE ? Which KDE version you use ? here 4.5.5, not 4.6.1

Please provide a gdb backtrace.

Latest version I updated from macports is 1.8.0.
Digikam crashes on launch. Showfoto instead works fine.

I'm using KDE 4.6.0, always from macports. Showfoto, Dolphin, Gwenview and Okular seem to work fine.

At the moment digikam 1.8.0 and KDE 4.6.0 are the latest versions available from macports.
Also I'm quite reluctant to update from macports... last time it took two working days to compile all the updated dependencies! :-(

How do I do it on Mac Os X Snow Leopard?

thanks for your attention,

As, under Linux, use GDB from command line :

Sorry, but this is not what I'm looking for. I don't want complete
data or modify it, I want only some of these to be visible with the
image when I sort them. Other pro tool like Lightroom can this.
For example, in current view mode, you only see filename through
status bar (and if too lang, it's truncated), no aperture/speed

I don't want to always keep right panel as I'm using Digikam in
traveler mode on a netbook, so small screen ...
As a side effect, I'm mostly using full screen for view mode and a
annoying bug, digikam doesn't keep the fact that I always want to have
status bar.

Thanks.
Cheers,

Julien

Use item tool tips. There are fully configurable from setup dialog.

Ok seems better.
(normal that this page is empty ? http://www.digikam.org/drupal/node/155)

but in view mode, the tool tip only appear on thumbnail and not in
main picture view ... still a pity to have so much side space around
the picture and not using it.
It also makes you using mouse which (at least for a keyboard-geek)
seems less efficient (but same for tags, currently)

Thanks Gilles
