Hi *
I ran into a little "problem". A friend of mine married recently and changed her family name to the name of her husband. How do you guys deal with that? I don't want two tags for the same person. Do you just extend the existing tag? So you don't need a new tag but you have both names. Which you a goot start in the new year. Since it was her choice to change her name I think you may need to respect that decision and just rename her tag.

That's what I'd do, maybe adding the date of the transition. Perhaps "Jane Smith (née Jones)" is a format many people would understand, English speakers, at least.
I don't have the program here to check, but I think I noticed that when you modify a tag, it jumps to the top of the tag tree when you save it. Annoying if you're changing a lot of them. That's 1.0.0 beta5, it might have been fixed since. -------------------------- Sent using BlackBerry ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jürgen Flosbach" <[hidden email]> To: digiKam - Home Manage your photographs as a professional with the power of open source <[hidden email]> Sent: Sun Dec 27 21:38:08 2009 Subject: Re: [Digikam-users] Question about tagging -------- Original-Nachricht -------- > Datum: Sun, 27 Dec 2009 11:18:47 +0100 > Von: [hidden email] > An: [hidden email] > Betreff: [Digikam-users] Question about tagging > Hi * > > I ran into a little "problem". Funny that you suggest "née" is English, as it is, in fact, originally
(and still) French.

I assumed it was, but wasn't sure if the French use it like we do, so I said "English speakers, at least".
