These three applications seem to have substantial overlap, not all of
which makes sense to me. E.g. The image editor has access to the right hand sidepanel, and can be used to tag pictures -- but there isn't a way to see tags. Showfoto has access to tagging info, and a browser much like digikam. Image editor is ... editor which support digiKam database. Showfoto is a stand alone application which doesn't support extra digiKam metadata. Image Editor and showfoto use 80% of common code. they share plugins interface too...
