No view for pictures

Karsten Salewski
Hi Folks,

I just recognized the following problem:
The regular view of pictures does not work at digikam.
Any time I click on the photo I just get a big black screen but no photo
displayed. The edit option does work.

I am using Version 0.10.0-rc1 and 4.1.3 (KDE 4.1.3) "release 4.9"

Karsten, if you read this before you followed Gilles' hint:

Can you send me your digikamrc? (~/.kde4/share/config/digikamrc)

We have normally fixed this bug and worked around broken config files, I'm interested why this still happens.

Hi Guys,

I just checked the workaround for the problem.
Removing digikamrc doesn't solve the problem. I still don't get an image when
I choose the "view" option.

But looking for the problem I found out that I had an inconsistency on my
system that caused a lot of kipi moduls not to be loaded.

Once I updated to kdebase 4.2.60 (KDE 4.2.60 (KDE 4.3 >= 20090116)) "release
1.7" all kipimodules are loaded.

So I have entries now in the batch processing menu. Only Raw- and DNG-
Converter. Is that everything in digikam 0.10.0?

I am still curious why I don't get the images displayed.

Hi Guys,

I just checked the workaround for the problem.
Removing digikamrc doesn't solve the problem. I still don't get an image when
I choose the "view" option.

But looking for the problem I found out that I had an inconsistency on my
system that caused a lot of kipi moduls not to be loaded.

Once I updated to kdebase 4.2.60 (KDE 4.2.60 (KDE 4.3 >= 20090116)) "release
1.7" all kipimodules are loaded.

So I have entries now in the batch processing menu. Only Raw- and DNG-
Converter. Is that everything in digikam 0.10.0?

yes. Look my post here about batch tools plan :

Does it work with a new user?

4.2.60? Where did you get that from? KDE 4.2 will be released today, but even
long before that there were 4.2.8x and 4.2.9x releases.

Yes, AFAIK there will be a different approach to this topic, hence the old one
was not ported.

Forget what I wrote, 4.2.60 is KDE 4.3, which is not even alpha, so if you use
it, expect trouble.

With the digikamrc you sent me I can confirm that this is the infamous splitter problem. To fix it for you, go to the bottom of the empty area and detect the horizontal, a few pixels high splitter handle which you can drag upwards.

We normally have a workaround that catches this problem, but your splitter config was slightly different on a not significant field (handle width, maybe due to different style) so this was not detected. Should be fixed.

Marcel
