Hi all,
Since few month, I recieve a lots of mail from users about a release plan for KDE3 and KDE4 version of digiKam. I have just created this page : http://www.digikam.org/?q=about/releaseplan It's not yet published in web project page. KDE3 version is planed before christmast. KDE4 version is planed for KDE4.1. Of course date can be changed like we need (:=)))) I would to have your viewpoints... Thanks in advance Gilles _______________________________________________ Digikam-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-devel |

Essentially it means that there will be another 9 months before people will start to use 0.10; some might be unhappy because they would love to use the new features before (OTOH, this might give a couple of additional testers ... ;-). However, I think this is perfectly fine. The transition of the KDE project from 3 to 4 is a big one and needs thorough testing. Also the transition from digikam 0.9 to 0.10 is a big step with many changes, in particular the database, so this needs to be rock-solid (not that I have any doubts that it will be, but testing and fixing bugs just takes time). Best, Arnd P.S.: BTW, after going through a couple of hundreds images yesterday:I don't know what I would do without the light-table, this just rocks and makes it so much easier to choose the best out dozens of similar shots ... _______________________________________________ Digikam-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-devel |

Gerhard ? Should all crashes be fixed (if possible ;-) before beta3, i.e. 18 Nov? Today I had a look at some where feedback from the user is required. but there are a several others, where you experts should have a look. In addition, there are these bugs, which seem to be regressions over the previous version: - Bug 151122: Opening Albums Has Become Very Slow http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=151122 - Sharpen tool: no 100% is possible with the new zoom-tool http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=148072 (related to http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=147542) Should maybe those bugs, which should be fixed for 0.9.3, or where patches exists, be marked as HI priority, so that they are more easily found? Hum, it sound like a thumb cache problem. Marcel ? Perhaps we must set cache size as a parameters... Gilles _______________________________________________ Digikam-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-devel |

Marcel ? The user reports that kio_digikamalbums is taking all the CPU, or digikamtags etc. If this was a problem with regenerating thumbnails, it would be the digikamthumbnail ioslave. If it was scanning, it would not be in digikamtags (only albums is doing the scanning, in 0.9). It must be listing. But I have no idea what could be reading full images there. > > Perhaps we must set cache size as a parameters... > > Gilles _______________________________________________ Digikam-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-devel |

Marcel, is there any way to debug this (e.g. is strace the way to go?) I only fear that on our machines the problem might not be reproducable (at least I don't see any symptoms ...) BTW: shouldn't we better attach this discussion to the BKO entry? (If yes, I would make a brief summary and we continue there?)
