I recently switched to Suse Linux 11.1 from Windows and Digikam 0.9.4 was
installed by the distribution DVD. I think its very good but it doesn't list my camera (Pentax K200D) as supported. If I want to upgrade Digikam to version 0.10.0, should I uninstall the existing package first or just install the new RPM over the top? Thanks in advance Graham Dicker _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

Digikam 0.10.0 require KDE4. If you are already running KDE4 you can update to 0.10 using Yast without having to uninstall the earlier version. If you are running KDE3 you need to upgrade to KDE4 as well. Not sure if this will help you list your camcer though. I think Digikam relies on gphoto for this. Again, check what Yast has to offer.

Is there a 'simple' way to upgrade for Ubuntu-users? It seems I
already have KDE4 running on my computer, but I'm not advanced enough to try to compile the sources. 2009/10/16 <[hidden email]>: > Digikam 0.10.0 require KDE4. Thanks for the advice so far so good...I installed digicam 0.10.0 and it
work great and my camera is now in the list of supported cameras but should I now uninstall the old version? They seem to list a good deal of common items in the dependency lists - does Yast check if removing something in the dependency list of application X will break application Y? You can try uninstalling the previous version if you not need it. Yast will
check and warn for broken dependencies. Still, this is probably a question for a maillist on opensuse and not digikam /Sven On Friday 16 October 2009, Graham Dicker wrote: > Thanks for the advice so far so good...I installed digicam 0.10.0 and it > work great and my camera is now in the list of supported cameras but should > I now uninstall the old version?
