Have you tried running DK from terminal? That should give you some clue to what is failing On 18 Jan 2013 21:46, "Kim" <[hidden email]> wrote:

When I first started with linux about this time last year I was using
Ubuntu, I liked it but my laptop is getting old. I was looking for something that was light on resources and moved to Bodhi. It is built on Ubuntu but uses the Enlightenment desktop and comes bear bones. I have 2 GB of RAM and with this I can edit photos and vids with out issues. I like it because it also looks great while being low on resources. How is Fedora for resources? Ok back to DK, I deleted my Dropbox collection. Then re added it. Trying to watch carefully what it's doing. The blue progress bar again gets to 39% and says it's finished. The text above it shows it's reached the last folder. Yet I'm thinking it's NOT really done. When I go and look at the Dropbox folder tree in DK, I see that although it's imported many of the folders, many of them are empty. Checking the folder in my file window shows there ARE JPG images in there. But it's not finishing the import to bring them all in. I turned OFF the Dropbox app before doing this in case it was messing something up. So I'm very puzzled. (sigh) Yes if I add a new folder and images manually to my normal "photos" folder outside of DK it picks them up fine when I open DK. I use DK to back up my images and so I can login to the website to access my files away from home. No problem for me on several computers, the oldest one having being purchased 8 years ago. But as I don't like Gnome 3, I've been using the light desktop XFCE since Gnome 2 'disappeared' (since Fedora 15 or 16, I think), and it works like a charm on both 32-bit or 64-bit computers. Ok I have no idea what was wrong, but it's working now. :) I purged
everything I had been working on. Jeff at Bodhi linux added DK 2.8 to the repo and I installed that, and it's working fine now. whoohoo! Thanks everyone for trying to help. Don't you just hate the weird problems?! Kim _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

Sorry .... I've been working with Debian system for 12 years. I'm very happy about stability, security but I'm not happy concerning Debian Digikam version: too old (2.6) for me.... My question: what do you think about Fedora for professional use, about its stability, especially concerning mysql + Digikam ? > 2013/1/18 Kim <[hidden email] <mailto:[hidden email]>> > > Yes I'm realizing that now, but I can't figure out how to get the > 2.9 installed.
