How to save in 16 bits PNG

finstrodelapradera-subscription
Hi Gilles

Well, my RAW (ARW from a Sony A700) are 16 bits depth. And this is what happen when I save in:
  • PNG, 8 bits depth of color
  • TIFF, 16 bits depth of color
  • JPG, 8 bits depth of color

So, in my case, is not a source bits of depth problem. Something more is happening. I noticed this when comparing two images, one exported as PNG and other in TIFF (from the same RAW source) and I saw a big noticiable difference between them.

Thank you

I use also PNG to save my processed Sony A500 raw file. It's saved in
16 bits color depth. Go to RAW decoding control panel from digiKAm and
set 16 bits color depth processing...

Perhaps related. When i rotating a 16 bits PNG they got reduced to 8
bits. Do you do any rotating?
