I don't have this function in the Export menu, though I use regularly Export to Piwigo / Facebook and Picasa.
Did you set up something special in the Configuration menu to get this line? In the kipi-plugins tab maybe?

The "Export to remote computer" function is in the Export menu (along with Export to Facebook, Flickr, etc.). I'm using digikam 1.5 on ubuntu 10.10.

I used the function to copy a selection of photos (selected by specific tag) to a removable usb drive.

I just update to Digikam 1.6.0 and I can now see the "Export to a remote computer" function.
So my problem is solved.
