I'm looking for a simple way to copy a selection of photos in a directory that is not managed by Digikam.
The batch tool won't do it. Copy/paste doesn't work. At the moment, I'm creating a sub-album in Digikam, and intend to move it elsewhere once I've put in it all the photos I need. Is there a simplest way to achieve that? Thanks for sharing your ideas, Marie-Noëlle -- Une galerie photos, un blog ... pourquoi pas ? You can simple drag&drop the files into the destination directory...

Yes, copy & paste works fine here, too. At least with dolphin...

I use Gnome, so the file manager is Nautilus, isn'it?
I can copy the selection in Digikam, but "Paste" is greyed in Nautilus. Digikam is on an external drive, and I want to copy onto the HDD, but I don't think that is relevant. Pressing CTRL or SHIFT keys does not have any effect. Drag&Drop from Nautilus to digiKam results in confirmation on the action: copy or move is available. regards, Milan _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

When done, I filter on that tag using "Tag filters", select all and choose "Export"->"Export to remote computer" to export the selected photos (generally to usb). I guess you could also delete the tagged photos if you want. I have no "Export to remote computer" in the Export menu. And I don't see any setting that might be related to this function in the Configuration menu.
Which Digikam version do you use? Did you do something special to get this export function? Thanks, Marie-Noëlle 2010/11/27 Johnny <[hidden email]>

I used the "Export to remote computer" function just yesterday - it did the job perfectly.

I would like to ... if somebody can tell me how/where to find this function.
I have nothing like that in Digikam 1.5.0 2010/11/29 Gys van Zyl <[hidden email]> I used the "Export to remote computer" function just yesterday - it did the job perfectly. -- Une galerie photos, un blog ... pourquoi pas ? I need to group in one directory all the photos I want to create a book with.
They come from several Digikam albums, and I won't use all of them, so I need to make a selection, then copy them to another folder. That's what I did ... with the caveat that the new folder has to be created inside the Digikam albums hierarchy.
Once the copy is done, it can be moved to its final destination. Marie-Noëlle

The "Export to remote computer" function is in the Export menu (along with Export to Facebook, Flickr, etc.). I'm using digikam 1.5 on ubuntu 10.10.
I used the function to copy a selection of photos (selected by specific tag) to a removable usb drive.
