Based on feedback from the office, I had a few questions: 1.) The File menu has one item on it: Quit, while most other apps like Digikam seem to have the Import and Export sub menu on the File menu. 2.) For the "Cameras" portion of the menus, having two separate menus for it is confusing. What about having Cameras->and then under it, the cameras that were detected (or the greyed-out phrase "None Detected"), and at the bottom of this submenu, an item "Add..." 3.) "Batch" seems like it should either be on the "Tools" menu, or the items that Batch contains should be on the Tools menu. They are all tools, so is the difference between batch tools and regular tools enough to keep them on different menus? 4.) "Remote Gallery setting..." on the Tools menu. Perhaps this should be a small connection tracker to keep track of which galleries that you have login access to? As it is, it is confusing as heck, as to what you are "controlling" and even the fact that "Gallery" is the name of the product, not a generic term. 5.) I know that I have some weirdness by having two "Edit" menus, but if "Find Duplicates" is supposed to on one of the Edit menus, isn't that a tool that should go on the Tools menu? 6.) The Button on the Toolbar labeled "Slide". Why not the word "Slideshow" which is used throughout the rest of the program? Thanks, Brendan _______________________________________________ Digikam-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-devel |
I should rename this: "List of 3 questions", since 1, 5 and 6 are not valid
anymore, now that I know something is funky with my setup. ;-) _______________________________________________ Digikam-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-devel |

Anyway, English is not my first language, so I couldn't decide something better. Perhaps just "Gallery Settings"? or removing from Tools and inserting into another (settings?) menu, claiming it "Gallery"? -- Andrea Diamantini MAIL: adjam7_AT_gmail_DOT_com WEB: http://www.adjam.org IRC: adjam_AT_freenode PGP/GPG : 91A712C1 Fingerprint: 571E DFF4 19EF A597 2CCD A811 6CB6 3538 91A7 12C1 tadarattadara tattà tatatatatà tadarattadara tattà tattattattattà.. How about in the Settings/Options menu with its own panel for the actual setting up of a connection? Then, the actual connect tool would be under Export and you could select which Gallery you wanted to connect to? Seems the most logical layout to me, and I could help with the writing, since, I have 4 Gallery installs, of both version types. _______________________________________________ Digikam-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-devel |

With commit r872729 I removed "Gallery Settings" from Tools menu and inserted as option in "Gallery Export" from export menu. This is not working, it always tell me my settings are wrong and quits the
plugin. I can not change anything and I'm not able to click on the settings button either. This way is better than to add a new digiKam menu entry to setup remote gallery. Gilles _______________________________________________ Digikam-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-devel |

I hope that after the sprint we'll all come up with some ideas to combine "Gallery" export with all the others exporters in some kind of common dialog and have all your "accounts" listed under the same UI.... I think also that (your's?) managing account iface in previuos gallery version was perfect for that task. unfortunately, I had problems in porting it, so I decided to remove it for the moment and work just on "gallery export" feature. Moreover I saw there is a huge amount of code in the "export plugins" unusefully duplicated (I think at least 80%..). The real differences are just in the *talker classes implementation. Last (but not least), Gilles's idea about "new" export plugin. Lots of things to work on.. ;) -- Andrea Diamantini MAIL: adjam7_AT_gmail_DOT_com WEB: http://www.adjam.org IRC: adjam_AT_freenode PGP/GPG : 91A712C1 Fingerprint: 571E DFF4 19EF A597 2CCD A811 6CB6 3538 91A7 12C1 tadarattadara tattà tatatatatà tadarattadara tattà tattattattattà.. I personally don't like Brendan's idea of having a "connect" button. This should be an automatic task. You choose "gallery export", so you need to connect to your remote Gallery. Anyway, we can discuss about it. This is just my idea. Unfortunately, I'm away for a couple of days in this weekend. In a place without electric light. And of course no internet connection. I'll see your replies on Monday.
