I'm having trouble working with raw files in digikam (version 1.2.0). Perhaps I'm just missing something, but I tried a search and didn't come up with anything.
I've imported my images from the camera, and I can find the raw files in the digikam file browser. Then I right click and edit a raw file. I can make changes to the raw file via the Decoding/Post Processing settings, but all other options are greyed out. Thus, I can't save the file as a jpeg, sharpen, make lense corrections, etc. Could someone clue me in? Thanks! |
What does the right side of the editor look like? Does it have the
"Description" "Information" tabs at the top? Or is it in an editing mode, with "OK" and "Cancel" at the bottom right? -rei On 05/25/2010 10:48 PM, JGull8502 wrote: > I'm having trouble working with raw files in digikam (version 1.2.0). Hi Rei,
Thanks for your reply! The right side of the editor offers the following tabs: properties, metadata, colors, geolocation, captions/tags, raw import. The default view is raw import where I can see a histogram and some raw options. At the bottom there are abort and update buttons. -Jason Jason Gullifer Graduate Student, Cognitive Psychology 623 Moore Building Penn State University University Park, PA 16802 On Tue, May 25, 2010 at 11:33 PM, Rei Shinozuka [via digiKam] <[hidden email]> wrote:

ok i see what's happening. in your case, you just hit "IMPORT" and then
you are editing the picture. prior to that, you were preparing the RAW
file to get into the editor, you weren't actually editing the picture,
which is why you couldn't save it.
I never go through the Raw Import screen. You can set the image editor to automatically load in the raw file. [Settings] -> [Configure Digikam...] then under [Image Editor] I UNCHECK the box "User Raw Import Tool to handle Raw images." The raw options you would have set in "Raw Import Tool" you can set once in: [Settings] -> [Configure Digikam...] under [RAW Decoding] they are the same options. Once its in the editor, I usually use [Color] -> [Curves Adjust...] to adjust brightness and contrast, [Color] -> [Autocorrection]. When you select these options, you are in an editing mode and the right side of the screen allows you to [OK] or [Cancel] your changes. After you [OK] your changes, you can save the file as JPG. -rei you're in a mode where ou can On 05/25/2010 11:40 PM, JGull8502 wrote: Hi Rei, _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

The image will be loaded as well in editor. After that, you can process other tools and save your image. Thanks everyone! I was mainly missing the import button after making changes to the raw file. I'm not sure what I thought it did originally, but I never tried clicking it.

great. you can set digikam to automatically import the raw file using
preset parameters when you open image editor, thereby skipping this
step, which is the setting i prefer.
