Digikam refuses to open a .jpg photo

tosca
I don't understand what's going on: I have a .jpg photo, that has been created with Gimp/UFRaw from a .CR2 photo and Digikam refuses to open it, saying "Impossible de se connecter à l'appareil photo. Veuillez vous assurer qu'il est connecté correctement et sous tension".

I can open this .jpg photo with other programs (Gimp, Visionneur d'images).
I don't remember whether I have used (or not) Digikam with .jpg photos since I upgraded to 1.8.0 (1.9.0 is not yet available in Fedora repositories).

Is there some settings option that can be adjusted to solve the problem, or is that a bug?

Thanks for helping,
Marie-Noëlle

And with showfoto ? Just to be sure...

Certainly not. It's probably a mistake in type mime config from KDE
that digiKam use.

Can you post somewhere your JPG file ?

Can you run digiKam into a console and capture a trace of all debug
messages when you try to open this JPEG ?

ShowFoto can open it.

I don't know how to do this: as far as I know, there is no such thing as File-Open in Digikam, the photo doesn't appear in the album and with a right-click on the photo I don't see any option to open Digikam in the console ...

Yes, but ... how do I open the photo once Digikam is launched? It doesn't appear in any album.  ;-)

that's weird!

in the digikam tree, create (with the system) a folder, copy the jpeg
there and re-launch digikam. You should see the folder and the file!

notice that posting the file may have changed it, you can tar it and
send it to me as PM if you want

by the way, what is the size of the file?

what does mediainfo say of the file

mine (example):

Indeed!!
The problem is now solved, I don't know why nor how ...

This morning, I tried to use the Facebook export module, and it didn't work. As I had encountered this problem in the past, I deactivated the Facebook export module in the Settings menu, relaunched Digikam (without the FB module), then reactivated the FB module.

Then, the FB export module works like a charm as before ... and I can see/open the .jpg photo!

Am I correct in guessing this could have something to do with the last Digikam update?

This may not be your problem & I am not trying  to tell to a experienced
person like you, but for newcomers..... requesting to check the extension.
If it is not proper, digiKam will not display the file though the file
browser will.

I'm not sure I understand what you're implying.
The extension of the photo filename has not been changed. At first, Digikam didn't find the picture; then it did, after I reactivated the FB export module.
