You are the assignee for the bug, or are watching the assignee. http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=135378 Summary: single-click on picture open it in editor Product: digikam Version: unspecified Platform: Ubuntu Packages OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: general AssignedTo: digikam-devel kde org ReportedBy: hfiguiere teaser fr Version: 0.9-rc2 (using KDE KDE 3.5.4) Installed from: Ubuntu Packages a single-click on a picture in the album view shouldn't open it in the editor but just select it. I actually discovered that this only happens if you click in the "thumbnail" part. It shouldn't either. This is a major UI inconsitency leading to usability issues. _______________________________________________ Digikam-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-devel |

As "KDE Settings" it happen that I don't run KDE but Gnome and just happen to use digiKam. So it is not consistent with the desktop either. Still have a usability problem. _______________________________________________ Digikam-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-devel |

I'll do it. This is one of the "problem" we should add in the FAQ. Some people use digikam but not KDE, so it could be useful to explain some issues about that. For this particular wish, IMHO, it should just be an entry in the FAQ : Q: When I click on a thumbnail, it opens the digikam editor, how can I disable that ? A: Start kcontrol then go to Peripherals/Mouse then choose "double-click to open files and folders" _______________________________________________ Digikam-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-devel |

At least it is problem of your distribution. If you decide to run KDE app in different environment you can ask Ubuntu to modify sources. It never came to my mind that this could be used somewhere else. IMHO there remains a usability issue: - from the GUI it is not obvious that the thumbnail is treated as a file. - the border around thumb and name suggests that they form a unit. - expected behaviour: no matter where I click within a unit, I trigger the same event. I see two possible solutions: - find a way to make clear that the thumb is a file and not part of the name, e.g move name closer to thumb and don't draw the border; use konqueror look-and-feel - treat thumb and name as a unit: click=select; double-click=edit; mouse-over=properties I like the current look-(not so much the feel) and I think the second suggestion is easier to understand -> I prefer click=select; double-click=edit; mouse-over=properties _______________________________________________ Digikam-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-devel |

Surely, "the border around thumb and name suggests that they form a unit." but this unit is composed of different components and one is the thumbnail. So - left click (outside of the thumbnail): select - left click (inside of the thumbnail): activate preview or editor (depending on the setting) Note that the mouse-pointer changes when moving over the thumbnail. I think what Fabien suggested in #c4 is sufficient, i.e. add a comment to the FAQ (unless it is already there ....). Best, Arnd _______________________________________________ Digikam-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-devel |
