Re: Digikam 2.0 runs only once before corrupting the DB

tosca
Got this message during the 'perl download-repos' command:
Cloning into doc/kipi-plugins...
error: The requested URL returned error: 502 while accessing
http://anongit.kde.org/kipi-plugins-doc/info/refs
fatal: HTTP request failed
Could not clone http://anongit.kde.org/kipi-plugins-doc onto doc/kipi-plugins
- Failed to populate gits repositories, aborting.

Shall I go further along the procedure, or is there something to do beforehand?

The reason that it failed that time was I had to use
This:
sudo cmake -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=debugfull -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=`kde4-config --prefix` ..
instead of this:
cmake digikam-software-compilation

else you will end up with empty albums.

Gilles had some documents updated according this at that time. But things that have been on the internet once can´t be extinguished anymore and will survive forever no matter how wrong they are.

I'm still getting this message and cannot procede further ... isn't
there a problem on the git server?

Rinus
It is the same here. The server has a problem, maybe overloaded, there
is notting you can do except for keep trying.
As soon the problem is solved, you will have succes.

I think that the git:// protocol works much better than http://

I.e. git clone git://anongit.kde.org/digikam-software-compilation digikam-sc

??? What ???

You don't need to use "sudo" for this line :
sudo cmake -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=debugfull -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=`kde4-config --prefix` ..

If you do it, all file processed by cmake and creadted with it will be only usable by root ! This will be a mess...

only use sudo to process "make install"

Sure... if you have previously run cmake as sudo here...

Cleanup all, checkout from scratch, and try again _whitout_ sudo. It will work fine.

Are you still there Marie: Don not sudo cmake

Rinus
Well, No idea how that sudo came in, Gilles. Thanks for the warning.

Now it works. But strange enough about 10 times cmake failed and then without any change are obvious reason:

-- Configuring done
-- Generating done
-- Build files have been written to: /home/jansen/digikam-software-compilation

Now I am in the make process, lets see what happens.
