Unless I have not seen it, I don't think there has been an answer to
my previous post. As it was impossible to run Digikam 2.0 I had to downgrade to 1.9; I would like very much to run 2.0 but is was impossible as it corrupteded the DB each time. In case it could cause problem, just prior to upgrade Digikam, I had upgraded from Fedora 14 to 15, then switched from Gnome to XFCE. Thanks for helping, Marie-Noëlle 2011/8/15 Marie-Noëlle Augendre <[hidden email]>: > Is this the same as > http://mail.kde.org/pipermail/digikam-devel/2011-June/052100.html > The traces are similar but I don't know how to solve this problem. > > Any idea? > Thnaks, > Marie-Noëlle > > 2011/8/14 Marie-Noëlle Augendre <[hidden email]>: > >> But the big problem is Digikam itself, that I can launch just one >> time; at the second launch, I get the following error message: >> "Failed to update the database schema from version 5 to version 6. >> Please read the error messages printed on the console ..." >> >> I've restored the database from a backup, and restarted Digikam again. >> And again it works at first launch, and I get the error at the 2nd and >> subsequent launches. >> >> "Information sur les composants" is: >> digiKam version 2.0.0 >> Dématriçage parallélisé: Oui >> Exiv2 peut écrire dans un fichier JP2: Oui >> Exiv2 peut écrire dans un fichier JPEG: Oui >> Exiv2 peut écrire dans un fichier PGF: Oui >> Exiv2 peut écrire dans un fichier PNG: Oui >> Exiv2 peut écrire dans un fichier TIFF: Oui >> Exiv2 prend en charge les métadonnées XMP: Oui >> LibCImg: 130 >> LibClapack: internal library >> LibExiv2: 0.21.1 >> LibJPEG: 62 >> LibJasper: 1.900.1 >> LibKDE: 4.7.00 (4.7.0) >> LibKExiv2: 2.0.0 >> LibKGeoMap: 2.0.0 >> LibKdcraw: 2.0.0 >> LibLCMS: 119 >> LibPGF: 6.11.24 - internal library >> LibPNG: 1.2.46 >> LibQt: 4.7.3 >> LibRaw: 0.13.5 >> LibTIFF: LIBTIFF, Version 3.9.5 Copyright (c) 1988-1996 Sam Leffler >> Copyright (c) 1991-1996 Silicon Graphics, Inc. >> Marble Widget: 0.11.95 (0.12 RC 2) >> LibGphoto2: 2.4.10.1 >> LibKface: 2.0.0 >> LibKipi: 1.2.0 >> LibOpenCV: 2.2.0 >> Libface: 0.2 >> Moteur de base de données: QSQLITE >> >> >> And if launched from a console, I get this trace: >> libdc1394 error: Failed to initialize libdc1394 >> digikam(30805)/digikam (core) Digikam::AlbumManager::setDatabase: >> DatabaseParameters: [ Type "QSQLITE", Name >> "/home/marie-noelle/Digikam/digikam4.db" (Thumbnails Name >> "/home/marie-noelle/Digikam/thumbnails-digikam.db"); ] >> QSqlDatabasePrivate::removeDatabase: connection 'ConnectionTest' is >> still in use, all queries will cease to work. >> digikam(30805)/digikam (core) >> Digikam::DatabaseConfigElementLoader::readConfig: Loading SQL code >> from config file "/usr/share/kde4/apps/digikam/database/dbconfig.xml" >> digikam(30805)/digikam (core) >> Digikam::DatabaseConfigElementLoader::readConfig: false "1" 1 1 >> digikam(30805)/digikam (core) Digikam::SchemaUpdater::update: >> SchemaUpdater update >> digikam(30805)/digikam (core) Digikam::SchemaUpdater::startUpdates: >> Have a database structure version 5 >> digikam(30805)/digikam (core) Digikam::SchemaUpdater::makeUpdates: >> makeUpdates 5 to 6 >> digikam(30805)/digikam (core) >> Digikam::DatabaseCoreBackendPrivate::debugOutputFailedQuery: Failure >> executing query: >> "" >> Error messages: "Unable to execute statement" "table ImageHistory >> already exists" 1 2 >> Bound values: () >> digikam(30805)/digikam (core) >> Digikam::DatabaseCoreBackend::execDBAction: Error while executing >> DBAction [ "UpdateSchemaFromV5ToV6" ] Statement [ "CREATE TABLE >> ImageHistory >> (imageid INTEGER PRIMARY KEY, >> uuid TEXT, >> history TEXT);" ] >> digikam(30805)/digikam (core): Schema update to V6 failed! >> > > > > > > -- > Une galerie photos, un blog ... pourquoi pas ? Digikam has run without a problem with Fedora up to now. In fact, I
even choosed Fedora because the new versions of Digikam were available in the official repositories much more quickly than with Ubuntu; the same for other programs, too. As for now, I have upgraded to Fedora 15, changed Gnome to XFCE and upgraded to Digikam 2.0 in a couple of days. Even if there are some glitches that need attention, that cannot justify leaving Fedora; I use Digikam a lot, but it is only one program among many others that I use regularly too. As for solving the problem, there is an error message at the beginning of the trace, that has no meaning for me: libdc1394 error: Failed to initialize libdc1394 Maybe a developer can explain what it means, and in which direction I should look for. Hi Marie-Noëlle,
I had a look at your trace. Itś for me hard to believe that the missing firewirelib has to do with your problem. For what it´s worth a few thoughts: Has fedora an equivalent to ubuntu´s ¨sudo¨. Than I should try from console ¨sudo digikam¨, maybe there is no access to some file. or I would reinstall and take care that the dbconfig.xml is removed before, maybe that one give´s wrong version info. or I would update libkipi, you have 1.2, I think that´s an old one, although it looks less relevant to me than the forementioned tips Digikam::DatabaseConfigElementLoader::readConfig: Loading SQL code >>> from config file "/usr/share/kde4/apps/digikam/database/dbconfig.xml" Rinus Op 20-08-11 19:21, sleepless schreef: > Op 20-08-11 19:04, Marie-Noëlle Augendre schreef: >> Digikam has run without a problem with Fedora up to now. OK, thanks for the hint. I've always used yum for packages or groups of packages; I didn't know it could 'speak' also for single programs or libraries. At the moment, libdc1394 is not installed, but it might be OK as I have downgraded to Digikam 1.9. I'll try to reinstall Digikam 2.0 tomorrow and see what happens ... will check libdc1394 also. Marie Noëlle,
The problem with libdc1394 is an in-deep problem (solved in my computer running Mageia). The story is there : Before to close this entry, i have been able to reproduce the crash. Now i cannot... Read all the story in bugzilla, It's explained. A lots of people report that the crash still exist. So more investiguations need to be done.

Well, I did have this problem a couple of times in 1.9 version, and have been able to solve it with this solution: http://ymartin59.free.fr/wordpress/index.php/2011/04/29/digikam-does-not-start-do-not-drop-your-database-yet-it-may-be-fixed/
But this time, the Settings table is really a mess: it comprises many more rows than the usual 20 records I saw in previous version, the DBVersion row is multiplied by I don't how many ... I did try to fix it using Sqliteman, but it was impossible. And anyway, the mess is back each time I launch/close Digikam! As for now, I'm trying to compile from git but: - it's almost my first try at compiling - I don't know anything about git so things are quite complicate ... Marie-Noëlle

I am still in the process. Mainly because I ran into trouble with updating stuff from synaptec. I did it successful a couple of times before, never sure if I can be of any help, but don´t hesitate to ask. Rinus

Thanks. Actually, I'm following the procedure you wrote a while ago http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.kde.digikam.user/15433/match=compile+git and translating it for Fedora at the same time.
