Hi all,
I finally got around to loading the 0.9.3 version of Digikam from Achim's repository ( https://launchpad.net/~allee/+archive/ ). It installed fine, but no thumbnails show up. When run from the command line, I get this: $ digikam Found dcraw version: 8.83 digikam: ERROR: : couldn't create slave : Unable to create io-slave: klauncher said: Error loading 'kio_digikamthumbnail'. digikam: digikam: ERROR: : couldn't create slave : Unable to create io-slave: klauncher said: Error loading 'kio_digikamthumbnail'. digikam: digikam: ERROR: : couldn't create slave : Unable to create io-slave: klauncher said: Error loading 'kio_digikamalbums'. digikam: digikam: WARNING: Failed to list url: Could not start process Unable to create io-slave: klauncher said: Error loading 'kio_digikamalbums'. I'm running Kubuntu Gutsy AMD-64. Any help would be appreciated! Paul, your KDE3 variable settings is not fine. I have discovered the
same problem with KDE4... This is my post from digikam-devel mailing list about a same problem to run digiKam for KDE4, where kio-slave are not started properlly: //--------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Arnd, For KDE4 with Mandriva 2008.1, there is a script named "k4" which initialize all env. bash variable to be able to run a KDE4 application under KDE3. Hi Gilles,
It turns out that this was not my problem. I had a dangling symlink to a non-existent lib in /usr/local. Getting rid of that did the trick. Thanks for making me dig deep enough to find it! I don't know, I removed it ;-)
I think it was a libkdcraw library. If memory serves me correctly, I had to create a symlink from libkdcraw.x.y.z.so to libkdcraw.so, or something like that. This was an attempt to get digikam SVN to compile, which I never got fully working anyway... HTH!
