Can't use google maps in digiKam

Anders Stedtlund
Hi,

Since digiKam 2.4.1 I can't use google maps. I get "Malformed URL" as
answer. This is true for Map search and geolocation. Anyone else seen
this?

My setup:
digiKam 2.5.0 (built by me)
kipi-plugins 2.5.0 (built by me)
openSUSE 12.1 x86_64
KDE 4.7.2

/Anders

not reproducible here.

Run digiKam in a console. Do you see any error message about geolocation ?

Note : don't forget to turn on KGeoMap debug space using kdebugdialog

I just checked Google maps on the Geolocation tab and it works fine for me:

my setup:

digikam 2.5.0 (just built by myself)
openSUSE 11.4 x86_64
kde 4.7.4
kipi-plugins 2.3.0-4.4-x86_64 from build.opensuse.org/KDE

Re: Can't use google maps in digiKam

Gilles Caulier-4
googlemaps in digiKam is displayed with khtml component from KDE
(typically, html interperter from Konqueror browser)

If you open googlemaps in konqueror, it's work ?

Re: Can't use google maps in digiKam

Anders Stedtlund
Hi,

I would like to reopen this. As it is now it's possible to see google
maps but the problem I have now is that it's impossible to pan the
map.

I have built libkgeomap from the sources provided in 2.5.0.

I also tried to use libkgeomap_calibrator.shell, as suggested in
another thread... The result is the same. I can't pan the map when
google maps is used.

There are no problems using google maps in konqueror.

What can I be missing in my system?

/Anders

Re: Can't use google maps in digiKam

Anders Stedtlund
Hi again,

Am I the only one that can't pan the map when using google maps? Or
better: Can all of you pan the map when using google maps?

Marble is no problem to pan.

I'm using DK 2.3.0 from openSUSE's KDE::UpdatedApps repo under openSUSE 11.4
with KDE 4.6.0.

Previously I had used Google maps to geotag some photos wit DK 1.9. Until
recently I have been unable to use Google maps at all with the current
versions. After I had installed some additional libraries the Google map is
now shown in the geo tagging dialog.

The problem I'm observing is the opposite of yours: when I click into the map
window and move the mouse cursor then the map *is* panned according to the
cursor movement. However, I'm unable to click into the mapin order to set a
location mark for the photo I'm trying to geotag. :-(
