[Bug 255554] New: No Color Profile Assigned When Generating ProPhoto TIF File From DNG

Bugzilla from gore@projectpontiac.com
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=255554

Summary: No Color Profile Assigned When Generating ProPhoto TIF
                    File From DNG
           Product: digikam
           Version: 1.5.0
          Platform: openSUSE RPMs
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: Color Management
        AssignedTo: [hidden email]
        ReportedBy: [hidden email]

Version:           1.5.0 (using KDE 4.4.4)
OS:                Linux

When I use Digikam to import a DNG file into the image editor in ProPhoto color
space, the resulting saved TIF file has no color profile assigned to it.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
- select a DNG file and open it in the editor
- on the DNG import screen, under the Color Management tab, set the working
space to an existing ProPhoto.icc profile (I use the one provided by Adobe)
- save the file in the editor as a TIF

Actual Results:
Saved TIF file has no color profile. Also, the picture looks like an embossed
monstrosity. It's terrible.

Expected Results:
Saved TIF file should have a color profile, and should at least look like a
picture.

This does not seem to happen with JPG files. Only with TIF files. This does not
happen with TIF files generated using UFraw instead of Digikam.

[Bug 255554] No Color Profile Assigned When Generating ProPhoto TIF File From DNG

--- Comment #1 from Frank Gore <gore projectpontiac com>  2010-10-29 00:57:26 ---
Upon further testing, it doesn't matter what working color space I choose.
Importing a DNG and then saving it as a TIF file always generates a horrible
gray embossed thing with no color profile attached.

I cannot reproduce this problem, I'm getting a correct 16bit TIFF with embedded
profile.
I have only a very limited DNG collection, so you may want to provide a picture
for testing.

Sure, here's one from my Pentax K-7 that always gives me these results:
http://www.friendlyphotozone.com/tmp/GORE4269.DNG

(still uploading, should be there by 9:45pm EDT)
