When I open window to edit metadata in a raw file, from a Panasonic or Olympus
camera, is impossible write in camps. All function are disabled.
In other way, if I want edit a nef file, from nikon camera, all work good.
Bug verified on my system and from my friends on Ubuntu.

Until exiv2 version 0.19 there was no write support for ORF files. Which exiv2
version are you using.

Then please try to update to exiv2 0.19. You also need to recompile libkexiv.

Nevertheless, it should be possible to still edit the metadata of these images
only in the database. Which command did you use to open the window for editing?

Hy, I'm one of the Sergio's friends.
I use digikam 1.2 in Ubuntu 10.4 (AMD64) with exiv2 0.19-1 and I can't write
XMP metadata in ORF files.
To do this, I use Image->Metadata->Edit XMP, in digikam.

I try from command line but  no works.
Message say that, also with version 0.19, write is'nt possible on Orf files:

Exiv2 ORF write-support is only available in the SVN repository. It will be
included in the next release. For Panasonic RAW files we only have read
support.

You can see the image support level for the latest Exiv2 release here:

I have tried Exiv2 0.19.1 (compiled from trunk) and, at first look, works good
with orf files from Olympus camera E3.
For tests I have used the sample files (txt.cmd) finded on Exiv2 site.
The program set, modify, delete and add personalized info in metadata, so as I
want.
If you wish other tests...

You could no try to build libkexiv and digikam against the new trunk exiv2
version and see if you can also edit meta data from within digikam.

News, I compiled ONLY exiv2 from trunk and after I've replaced the binary file
in /usr/bin, but digikan doesn't edit xmp metadata yet.
